We are making a web browser!
PREVIOUSLY: >>62148342
In the face of recent changes in Firefox and Chrome some anons were asking for a /g/'s perfect web browser, we collected the most wanted here and plan on continuing with the creation.
To contribute follow the WORK PLAN, join the IRC to ask developers for a repo, and get to programming!

Look at the features list and implement them, ask what is currently being worked on if you don't know.

It's been a few days since we've had a netrunner thread
First for vim bindings are best bindings
>>62185044
Yeah, vi bindings will be great
>>62184881
Like the idea hate the current status pics look bad like 1990 VHS
When youmake it modern and slick i will use it til then back to opera
>>62185642
It's a work in progress
>>62185838
This
>>62184881
Just compiled netrunner today, it crashes when I try to load up /g/, all other websites work fine
https://pastebin.com/MnFYnb5Z
Where's the webm of the latest build.
>>62185838
I know it is but still
>>62184881
Also make the site better if the page looks slick more people will take the project seriously
>>62187643
yeah all those normal people will love the fucking moonman icon
you fucking children
I wish you would leave this place and just fester in a discord or something
>>62187733
I made g my nest deal with it
>>62184881
>sepples
Sure it works, but why do the same as all the old browsers? Surely Netrunner is an opportunity to do something better.
Why are there so many repos and why are they out of sync?
>>62188938
Only repos that matter are the two listed above which should be synced with each other
>>62186945
Just as intended :^)
>>62187135
still?
ITS A WORK IN PROGRESS.
>>62187780
It's supposed to be different
>>62187780
Wish it were C too but if it is well done I don't complain, maybe is open to do a little rewrite in the future.
>>62184881
Just learned about this browser. Is it based on an existing engine or is it being developer from scratch?
>>62184881
>/ntr/
Why not /net/?
>>62192196
According to devs is from scratch but takes ideas from links2
>>62192206
Mmmm, why not?

Are you guys planning on fixing Firefoxe's ungodly lust for RAM?
Is anyone working on a JavaScript engine? If not I might be up for it.
I've written a LISP interpreter in the past so I have some experience but JS is a little crazy
>>62192519
The ideal would be starting with a js engine with bare support for 4chan so we can move to shitpost there
>>62192519
>>62193003
>>62193419
shitposting takes priority over anything else on /g/
>>62187733
I think the point they are trying to get across is that it is a browser for people that lurk this board, not normalfags.
Still looks ugly as fuck.
>>62184881
Not building it on top of ungoogled chrome was a mistake
>>62193003
>>62193590
This is a good point. Make a javascript engine that can at least handle 4chins.
>>62184881
Finally I'm tired of firefox and chrome
>>62194415
>not making Chrome-derivative botnet #9294 was a mistake
>>62194415
>wanting to build it ontop of a botnet
>bump
Should've called it Nitgroomer. Rolls off the tongue easier.
default adblock built in please
Is there any way I can contribute to this using Rust?
>>62201596
That's a horrible name
>>62201637
Pihole
>>62201786
where there is a will, there is a way
Just skimmed the feature list. About that random useragent thing, it would be pertinent to have a specific "restricted" list of user agents that are selected from only on certain sites. Some sites either have a pop-up box or restrict any access if your useragent states you have an unsupported or out of date browser.
>>62201834
What the fuck did you just say to me?
2017-08-31 & 09-01 progress report:
Sorry for a bit of a delay, had to visit a friend that tried to kill himself recently.
- can now place text at where the cursor is
- can paste into address bar
- you can use arrow keys to move around cursor in textarea/input boxes
- error pages
- scheduler fixes (lowers CPU usages and makes cursor blink properly)
- non-quoted attribute support in HTML parser
- smoothed out scrolling
- !@#$%^&*() work now
- resizing window now triggers texture fix on tab selection
one note, if you want to build on linux, please add "-Wno-strict-overflow" to WARNING in the Makefile
Textarea is still pretty wonky, I'll wait until this feels more solid before I do another package update.
>>62202816
Why can't you add that to the git makefile?
>>62202816
Can you please add "GAS THE KIKES! RACE WAR NOW!"
Thank you
>>62202816
>Sorry for a bit of a delay, had to visit a friend that tried to kill himself recently.
Why did he try to kill himself? Disappointed in the current browser landscape?
