Set the boot order in your bios to boot from the usb first, then run the setup, format the drive you were installing the OS in in the first place.

Once you have done that you can install it on the drive I mentioned earlier. Let it finish. It's normal for the installation to get stuck several minutes, just don't look at it and do something else while it installs.

This shouldn't be possible as long as the boot order is set correctly. I think is telling you that because is trying to boot from de corrupt Windows install (hard drive).

Anyways, as some people pointed out, try installing from a DVD, but if the boot order is wrong, you will get the same error.

Depends on the machine and usb. On slow usbs and HDDs it can take well over 10 minutes.
