I like the idea of hosting videos through torrenting like BitChute does, but where are the videos stored? Are the videos I watch being downloaded on my computer?
Webtorrent uses WebRTC to facilitate a connection between two peers. It does this with javascript. The browser creates an SDP object which contains a network address. WebRTC can also work through NAT to establish a best route to a device behind your LAN.
Then it transfers packets via UDP/IP which is the typical protocol for large multimedia.
You are downloading the video and uploading it at the same time. The video is stored in memory and not saved to disk, unless you want to.
