Reading the wikipedia page seems its all vague esoteric "resource management" bullshit.

What more do you need? Never farmed for Vespene gas?

So thats it?
I did some consulting for SAP a while ago. While being escorted to a conference room one time, we walked past a poo in his open cubicle watching a YouTube video of some Indian food recipe. I let out an audible snicker from seeing a meme irl.

SAP basically runs everything.
An electronic substitute for your financial ledger that can produce the reporting required in dozens of countries automatically.
Controls the records saying what goods you've made, where you've shipped them to, what you've sold and who you've sold them to.
What machines and other valuables you have.
Regulatory for pharmaceuticals and oil. Dozens of oil companies rely off of SAP's IS-OIL. A handful maintain and update that. Four out of six of the main developers have been on the same plane at the same time.
SAP is software that runs entire businesses and cripples them if it goes down, because all of the business processes depend on it (at least in part).
And you'll never encounter them as a consumer (except in advertising), just in business if you maintain it or have to touch it directly. Tons of shit uses SAP as a backend (e.g. pretty much everything Apple runs uses Apple as a backend, including Apple stores/iTunes store).

>Apple uses apples as a backend
Meant Apple uses SAP as a backend. They put a lot more user friendly shit in the front but they're also sometimes backwards in how they use the software, e.g. storing a terabyte and a half of shit on an Oracle DB that no one has looked at once in the past two years.

Very informative post, thanks anon.
I'm in a class now that acts as a certification.
Week 2 and I already hate it. Simple shit takes forever and the layout is stupid as fuck.
I've used older SQL based garbage that was more intuitive.
