Are these really worth it? Is there nothing better than this?
I've had half of them chip a little in storage.
Oh sorry, I forgot /g/ is full of smelly fat neets who brag about overpriced electronics their parents got them with a credit card.
/diy/ would be a better board for this question, OP.
>>62167628
/diy/ is dead
Looks like most carpenters and roofers out there don't speak english let alone read it.

>>62167604
You have to go back
>>62167677
I was born in the USA. I can barely speak taco taco fuwehpootah
>>62167136
Can you explain your application, and what you think is a viable alternative to a box cutter?
A pack of blades is like a dollar, anon.
>>62167750
Or are you asking if you should spring for the expensive DeWalt blades? If that's the question, the answer is no, buy the cheap ones and change them out more frequently.
>namebrand blades
hell no, get the cheap shit. the whole idea is that you swap them out as soon as they're dull, you're not keeping these around longterm
>>62167750
boxcutters have like zero leverage to them, they fucking suck
What are you using them for?
And no don't buy the expesnive ones you fucking idiot, you need a different tool if you're cuting something that difficult.
>>62167784
What handle do you like? I'm a Stanley 199 man myself
>>62167750
>>62167765
>>62167784
I have to change mine at my job site on a daily basis after cutting shingles and drywall all day. I want to know if the expensive blades are worth it long term.
Is the 10X blade life claim even real or just marketing?
Because in my head right now 1 carbide blade = 10 regular cheap blades. Changing blades once a week vs every day seems better for me.
>>62167829
Get a quick change handle and get used to changing them out. I can't imagine using a single blade for an entire week as a roofer. Even if it stays sharp it's going to get gummed up with tar
>>62167827
99Efag here
>>62167136
don't do it, anon. you have keep living.
>>62167827
anything but those folding ones that you press the button and slide it in. those things are so loosey goosey i feel like im more likely to cut myself than if im freehanding
>>62167829
like >>62167852 said, imo the biggest problem with blades isn't really the cutting edge but the sides of the blade getting gunked up
>>62167930
Yeah those are cancer. There are a lot of folding lockblade style ones now that are far superior if OP wants something with quick blade change functionality. The 199 requires a screwdriver to open which I wouldn't want to mess with daily were I a roofer. Best option for the home handyman though IMO.
>>62167985
What if one of those screw-fastening ones had a thumbscrew?
>>62167911
kek
>>62167852
>>62167930
True. Well thank you both for your advice, glad I only bought a $4 pack of carbide blades. Gonna go back later today and get a cheap 200 pack of regular blades for $20.
Get Personna utility blades
>not using snap-off blades
fucking plebs, all of you
>>62169307
These things are fucking shit for real work, jamming and the plastic parts breaking must be a feature because everyone that I got did that.
It must be really nice only having to open boxes. I have to work in 30-40°C weather on top of shingles or cutting truckloads of drywalls to measurement.
>>62169403
>Cutting truck loads of drywall with a utility knife.
Lol
>>62169420
What else are we supposed to use to score it, a butter knife?
>>62167930
>anything but those folding ones that you press the button and slide it in.
You mean this?
I have one and I quite like it because it's convenient.
Yes, the blade is a little loose, but unless you need precision that's not really a problem.
>>62167827
Got this Milwaukee handle. It folds and has a notch for stripping wires and cutting belts
>>62169552
I'm a diesel mechanic. I'm usually cutting wire looms and things. God damn your spastic.
>>62169552
I use a mora utility knife.
But honestly I only do drywall when I remodel my house, not for a living. Because drywallers earn peanuts for a living and it's shit work.
>>62170082
Y-you take that back. I earn $18/hour. It's not THAT bad.
>>62170193
honestly my job sucks too
>>62167628
/diy/ is getting pretty bad, every board keeps redirecting stupid questions there
>>62167829
just marketing
