Since new business-class laptops are basically consumer-tier shit now, and we can't use our old ThinkPads forever, when will we be able to make our own custom laptops with high-quality 4D-printed chassises?

newfag here, can someone redpill me on thinkpads? also, i recall that thinkpads were part of IBM, so how are they now part of lenovo?
>>62135646

tl:dr Business laptops used to be sweat-looking, serviceable, and durable machines that pleased business and hackers alike.
Now they are as disposable as a 300 dollar chromebook.

IBM sold Thinkpad to Lenovo in 2004

i'd honestly love that, but as of now laptop parts are absolutely bullshit, i'd rather glue a monitor and a keyboard to a case.

mean, clean machines that are durable and have excellent nerd support (i.e. linux and bsd).

They're unusually upgradable and compatible with freedom dinosaur software, but mostly they're cheap for used hardware
Everything else is basically a meme, *Lenovo* has no better build quality than Dell

They are spacier and it might work with smartphones once the technology is available/cheaper.

>Sweat looking
Ew do they look sweaty?

soc designs like raven ridge should make this a lot easier than it has been in the past. The big problem with mobo design will still be there though, routing the ram, but it would greatly cut down everything else you need to do.
