Literally the greatest OS ever created.
Easy to use, easy to customize.
What more do you want?

what do you dislike about macos?

>>62124446
i agree but as it is now I can live with a little spyware.
>>
>>62124230
MacOS is a buggy trash
>>
>>62124446
If /g/ forked it I'd avoid the fork as hard as I can

If it were possible to fork, a group of actually competent people would fork it and make an actually good distribution of it that I would be willing to use.

Closed source
Proprietary everything
Overrated
No control over my own computer

Now compare this garbage to:
Build my own PC with whatever parts I want
Can change any part whenever I want
With Linux I have control over my operations system
Can customise whatever I want
If I want I can install my own compiled kernel

No restrictions whatsoever
>>

But by using linux, you are a communist or at least support communist ideals. I'd rather be a Capitalist.
>>
>>62124574
It also removes the apple good parts
>>
>>62124624
Not really.
Open source is voluntarism, not communism, with the biggest difference being that you need to not only volunteer but have the skills to participate.
Communism enforce that everyone does it for free in trade of the system giving em the scraps.
>>
>>62124664
And you can't take code, modify it/fork it and sell it. That is what makes it communist. No property rights. And if you do make money on your code, you have to share it with the community.
>>
>>62124624
This "Linux is communism" meme is stupid and got old really fast.
Don't waste your time.
>>
>>62124710
That's GNU GPL specifically.
If the code is for example BSD you can take code, run with it and to the fuck you want, as long you give the name of the original authors.

Yes, you can. Also, are you implying you can do this with any closed source software?
>That is what makes it communist.
Then I suppose it isn't communist after all.
>No property rights.
You can't have the property rights to something you didn't invent, idiot.
>And if you do make money on your code, you have to share it with the community.
No, you don't.

This is why people dislike iToddlers.

you can't sell code licensed under the gpl.. possibly to dumbasses, but under the gpl forked code still has to remain under the gpl (so it has to stay open source) anyone could just compile your source code and bypass payment

if I didn't need 10,000 different bootloaders just to boot it and have actual stability on non-apple hardware, and if the spyware was removed I would use it on my thinkpad no problem. But until that day, no.

I have for 2 years already.

I don't use Windows because:
>Awful font rendering, which people even make it worse with stupid shit like mactype
>A very terrible, featureless desktop experience, you had to rely on third party tools for virtual desktops
>The command prompt is worthless
>3 versions with their own issues, instead of improving each time (Sierra better than Elcap which is better than Yosemite)
>Very shitty default software (Edge is a joke, the file manager is primitive and they want to replace it with some android phone tier app, the only good music player is Foobar and it takes 3 years to set up to make it look normal)
>Did I mention how shitty they all look? Specially 10, that's a full regression. They thought that when people said flat they meant things literally. Let's just replace everything with single colored blocks. It's an eyesore.

I don't use Linux because:
>Even the most basic shit needs some setting up
>The only seemingly maintained modern DEs are Gnome 3 and KDE, and the only one that's customizable enough to not make look like shit is the latter
>KDE requires disabling some hyper obscure feature through some flag in the terminal so it doesn't lag like shit
>Always having to find alternatives to software that aren't just as good, to the point I have to find alternatives to alternatives because depending on the distro it will be more of a pain in the ass to get something to work
>Distrohopping all the time because what works well in this one, doesn't in the other (durr you can install anything on any distro, we don't tell you what works though)
>KDE crashes everytime you want to do a little change and bogs down resources with the compositor like none other (fuck not even Windows goes that far)
>Having no less trouble here for any third party hardware support than I do on macOS
>>
>>62127494
>10,000 different bootloaders
>Clover and.... Clover, or Chameleon which is for ancient versions that nobody uses anymore
>10,000 different bootloaders

Also macOS been working pretty good for months on my X220. It's completely stable, what you're talking about is a janky touchpad and that's pretty much it.

The Darwin kernel is open source, but the UI and some other stuff is proprietary I think. If you took the kernel and everything else open source, how close could you make the final OS to Mac OS? Could you run Mac OS apps on it?
>>
>>62124624
That doesn't make a lot of sense. You can do whatever the heck you want. What you're looking for is different software licenses, of which some are closer to that ideal.

As a frequent macOS user I didn't read that. That is indeed laughable. With the introduction of SIP and whatnot it has become harder and harder. I don't mind but I can see why anyone else would and that statement is blatantly false.

Actually being able to install and use said OS on a non-Ifag machine easily

Every company utilises capitalism. What they do with their power is up to them and their governments letting them.

America hates the consumer and actually loves having their people scammed, a kiked and cucked country
