Adjusting the tape heads is the worst part of it.
I use a cassette recorder as my dream journal but for serious note taking you really do need a digital recorder with time-stamped files

Post more pictures of it.

K tomorrow it's 23:43 here goodnight.
So I have one of these. But it absolutely sucks.
The tape can stay at the same speed, and the audio level recorded is so God damn low.
Even after replacing the tape multiple times and cleaning the heads.

Are you sure it's not the volume dial that is the problem? Old volume dials build up dirt and oxidation and stop working properly after a while. Basically you need to take it apart and clean the potentiometer with a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol.

Follow the video but don't bother with the special contact spray stuff, rubbing alcohol works just as well.

But we already have a ThinkPad general...

I have tried to go around the volume dial completely. It might be that it is shite too.
Also the motors -can't- keep the speed well. To correct my original post.
I have even tried to record some stuff on a bigger R2R machine and let it play it back, only with ridiculous low volume.
But it might be easier to completely rebuild the amplifier with a newer type schematic if I actually want to use it.
