but not Profinet, which is just ethernet

cjdns emulates ipv6 but works completely differently under the hood, and it supports an ethernet interface

Does Infiniband count?

REAC. Proprietary Roland audio networking.

IP is just a layer, idk what youre on about.
Im using HTTP and PPP.
The most common type of alternative network you'd find in a data center is a Fibre Channel network used by SAN systems.
Probably not what you are thinking about, but things like modbus / RS485 / RS422 are industrial networks. Think multi-drop serial connections.

One of these network that are you talking about are still in modern use? Of course TCP and UDP are in use, but for example ARCNET is dead for years.
I ask you beacouse i'm interested in possibilities ant alternatives.
PS: Sorry for terrible english

it's still tcp/ip though, even if the underlying routing isn't normal CIDR-based
I use a lot of EtherCat and Ethernet/IP, but IP stands for Industrial Protocol.
