They block archives for two reasons

>People use it to deny them ad revenue (just an excuse because those people use adblock anyways)
>They can't quietly redact, change and alter their stories when you can archive their words (real reason, a couple new-media lefty websites got caught doing shady edits)

i've got a better solution:
don't read the fucking news

news sites give a twisted view of reality. they censcor names, photos and everything they're afraid to show. just go to forums for news
