My ISP (Charter Communications) has started throttling certain sites, 4chan included. It takes forever to load threads but reddit loads instantly. This is some fucking 1984 tier censorship.

>>62107623
yep we're seeing the end of the internet desu

time to swap isps
>>
>>62107623
I'm noticing a lot of interference at times, too: Recaptcha fails to connect, upload won't complete, etc...

We are beset on all sides.
>>
>>62107623
I have charter spectrum and can vouch for these huge latencies. I usually have /wsg/ on a separate tab to listen to music and it stutters non-stop. I can barely get my posts through sometimes. Images keep half loading and forcing me to reload a thread, which takes several minutes sometimes.

OP here, I never thought I'd live in an America that has censorship like this. We are not free, and it's going to get much worse.

Yes, I'll be Subscribing to PIA again. Only a matter of time before they ban VPNs too and then we are really fucked.
>>
>>62107709
same m8, time to VPN

People need to speak up about censorship. We're all going to get fucked over by crybabies if we don't stop it soon.

Got any proof there, Hoss?
>>
>>62108667
The monopolies of the ISPs in America is actually a very interesting and depressing story. To sum it up, Bell built all of the original infrastructure in the country which got split up to 3 different Regional Bell Operating Companies (RBOC) who are by law forced to sell to smaller competitive local exchange carriers (CLEC) at lower prices to create some semblance of a market.

Except for companies that are providing cable / coax and some newer fiber circuits, almost every different ISP is actually just a different CLEC that all use the same network on the backend. If you aren't in that pseudo-monopoly, then chances are you have a choice of multiple other carriers except for all but 1 or 2 of them suck fat dick for service or are ridiculously expensive.

Which is why we run into scenarios across most of America where on paper there is monopoly but when it comes down to service there is only 1 good choice for your area.
>>
Just pay for the 'adult' add-on package. Also be sure to thank trump.
>>
Not seeing any throttling on 4chan. Also on Charter. They really suck dick but I'm not sure about this one.
>>
>>62107623
Are you sure it's not just the site itself that's slow? On random days it can take forever for images on 4chan to load because of most likely heavy traffic. This seems to have gotten worse after the US election period brought in a ton of new users to 4chan.

Try testing 4chan from your mobile connection if you suspect that your ISP might be "throttling" 4chan.
>>
Charter here and I haven't been having any issues lately. Maybe change you DNS?
>>
>>62107623
Charter got bought out here, can confirm that I am being throttled everywhere. When I run network tests they unthrottle me for 10 minutes but it just goes right back to kbps speeds.

How do we do something about this?
>>
>>62111152
>How do we do something about this?

Start your own ISP.
>>
>>62111159
Thats impossible to do now.
All ipv4 addresses have been claimed years ago and the physical internet is private property. You simply cant just tap into it. You have to buy data from the giants and be their little bitch
>>
>>62107709
Just recently? Because I reckon my ISP's DNS has shit the fan since those website blocking laws came into place.

Not just ebil pirate websites, but shit like Wikipedia and Google intermittently fuck up for periods of time.
>>
>>62107623
I have Charter too, and I can assure you it's just 4chan's shitty servers because this site makes no money for good ones
>>
>>62111152
Write a script that starts a speedtest every 10 minutes?
>>
You can just swap ISP's thanks to all that free mark- Oh wait the ISPs just cut up the map so they don't have to compete.

Anyone who says that we need less regulation on this shit is a moron. ISPs will do this shit more if you give them more freedom.
>>
>>62112256
But muh Faux News said everything Obummer did is bad!
>>
>>62107623
who needs net neutrality amirite???? xDDDD
>>
>>62112256
Regulation is what got us in this mess, because the ISPs are the ones who fucking wrote it.
You can't fix anything without first fixing the government.

I was thinking more about taking money out of politics,.
>>
>>62113127
Kind of impossible when people vote for politicians that are in the pockets of wealthy corporate interests.
>>
>>62113118
Net neutrality is still in. Retard.
>>
>>62111233
Think ahead, retard. Buy up shit tons of ipv6 while it's good and cheap.
>>
>>62113159
All it takes is 3 meals. Once the political corruption fucks the population out of sheer idiocy, hungry people make for uncontrollable subjects.
>>
>>62113157
National socialism does this.
>>
>>62113195
It has a tendency to rely and take from a single powerful populist though, and so the success of the regime depends on a single individual, given absolute power, and in Germany's case, meth, opiates, and bull hormones
>>
>>62113206
Truly good people like Hitler indeed are uncommon, which is why they slander him so much.
>>
>>62113608
Slandering hitler is completely unnecessary. The truth is plenty bad enough.
>>
>>62113629
The truth will set you free.
>>
>>62113702
The truth is ugly.
>>
Why are Americans so hostile to the government but are happy to let corporations piss all over them?
>>
>>62113735
Because the government is (theoretically) restricted by the constitution, but corporations are people and can shit on them all they want with zero legal repurcussions.
>>
>>62113735
Americans love "innovation" under the guise of "environmentalism" or "free market." They absolutely fucking deepthroat Elon Musk's cock even though his companies wouldn't exist without government funding.

purchase a VPS and run your own proxy or VPN server.
>>
>>62113735
Cause they got forced to read 1984 in 10th grade and they equate everything evil with da goberment, failing to realize that corporations are free to piss over your personal rights and freedoms while the government is actually bounded by the law.
>>
>>62108667
Don't listen to these assholes, we have many ISPs.
>>
>>62107623

sucks to be you, we don't throttle and just just a 10G connection

>t. independant ISP
>>
>>62116043
what ISP offers a 10gbps connection besides to enterprise and large business customers with SLA's and shit?

I can get 1gbps or 2gbps, but nothing beyond that as a residential customer.
>>
>>62107623
Fellow charter user here, I've noticed this too.
>>
>>62113187
Yeah but look at Latin America, they're an area of abject poverty as far as the eye can see with gated enclaves of wealth spattered about. The people are revolting but the people have lost all power by the time it gets to that point.
>>
>>62113735
It's mostly just fly-over Americans that a dumb enough to be easily swayed by corporate propagandists such as Alex Jones and Rush Limbaugh. They create FUD to distract people from what's really killing the middle class.
>>
>>62107664
I wouldn't be surprised if some of these interferences are caused by our so beloved chink scam master overloard to invest your shekels for a pass 2bh
>>
>>62107623
Good. I hope you enjoy the consequences of losing net neutrality you Amerifat burgercuck.
>>
>>62116388
It's not stable, though. Systems like that are good so long as changes that happen are slow and methodical, so there's no rapid change.
But you pull the rug of 3 meals a day from people quickly and there's revolt. Wealth inequality is inherently unstable since small variations in economic conditions affect large numbers of people.
