Whats the best luxury watch for a newbie?
My price is 700-100 euro.
My current collection isn't any thing great.
I own a Casio f91w, Casio AQ-230A, Braun BN0032 and a orient although I'm not sure what type.

Yeah but it's the 60s/70s so every watch that has a battery in it needs to have a "tron"somewhere in the name to make it sound like it's a piece of tech from Star Trek. Accutron, Astron, Cosmotron, Computron, etc.
Also I guess it could be named after the equally pop-sci named particle accelerator from the 50s.

>>
>>62110762
Find someone willing to sell you their imperial
>>
>>62110827
I never liked alligator for dress watches, I prefer lizard skin both in texture, bulk (lack of), and pliability. They're slim, soft and look classy, especially with the shiny treatment.

Anyway, alligator is more versatile. And it's fine with casual wear too, most fashion and mall watches, even sporty ones, are on (fake) alligator so it's not like you'd stick out if you wear jeans and an alligator strap.

That said, calf is far more comfy and soft, but also boring. It'd look great on a Bauhaus or other minimal watch though.

They're the Ford Taurus or Seiko Presage of the luxury car world. He'd be better off buying a 7 series from the same era, or even something like a 911. Sure it'll still bankrupt him like the Maserati would, but at least it wouldn't signal that he's still a tasteless bogan at heart.

Vostok's are usually reliable little fuckers that keep ticking consistently no matter how you torture them, and the timings i gave were averages for two weeks of constant running.

Though i did have one Komadirskie a while back that no matter how i regulated it went fucking ballistic, either it was +5 for a day, into -60 the other day and +23 on the next. Just for shits and giggles as i had a few old dismembered Vostok movements i dropped a 40 year old balance and it worked like a charm afterwards.

Checked the original balance under a loupe and it was fine, so still have no idea why it happened till this day.

Most of the Citizen Promaster line (ecodrive), varies from 200 to 450 and in the 400$ range you start getting into the JDM area with the PMD series that have some fantastic dive and field watches.

Otherwise Seiko has plenty of offerings from 75 as far as quartz/solar goes, but if you want the better stuff they have it's going to be the SUN019/021/023 kinetics which are splendid and solar models. Padi variants are pretty neat as well.

You /fa/gs do realize that the small watch meme applies to dress watches primarily and maybe field watches at most? Even the GOVNAH talks about watch etiquette while he wears his meme Squale that's borderline too big for his wrist.

Pic related is when the dive watch is too big, it's obvious since he's doing what obvious wristlets do, shoving that watch all the way to the damn hand.
>>
>>62124245
At 200 dollars, you can get a bunch of Japanese automatic dress and dive watches (Seiko anything, Orient Ray/Mako/Bambino/etc.), you can get Citizen solar quartzes, you can get quartz chronographs, etc.

From 200-300 you can even dip your feet into Swiss automatics like the Hamilton offerings.

The only people who complain about watches being too big are people with bitch wrists. Every review TGV does he's like hurrr its too big I wish it was 38 or 36mm XD. That Sumo or Shogun(which ever) is slightly too big for that person, but it would likely be ok becuase that's modern styling.

God I wish they made the new Explorer I with the old numbers. Those blocky numbers are pretty ugly and ironically kind of date the watch.

A couple of "it's too damn cheap but i gotta try it as it looks good" straps and saving up for either a new vintage or the new Seiko Samurai (Pepsi or black).

Outgoing i got these couple of Omega's that were sold and i just need to ship them off.

First of all it does not matter what type of watch it is because if it is too big you look like a fucking idiot. What any youtube faggot or you say about the subject is meaningless.

Why are you saving pictures of my watches? In any case that Omega doesn't have enough contrast on the dial, otherwise putting it on leather would likely solve the too much gold issue.

It corrodes and turns dark fast, but brass is easy to clean back up. You can also coat it in a clear lacquer too.
>>
>>62129889
I'm curious to ask about what did you do with that 5106 maplebro? I recall you wanting to sell it.

>>62129916
I've tried demagnetizing before changing the balance but it didn't do jack.

>>62130185
The price highly depends on the movement and some other details, but if you're looking for ones within a reasonable price range they can go for 300 to 600 depending on how good of an example it is.

Ideally, if it's one with a decently common movement, look for one that's cosmetically great and perhaps with a bad movement to get it restored. For example 56X powered Seamasters can go for 350~700$ easily, but good examples can be found at 500$.
>>
>>62130451
Haven't sold it yet, I'll let you know when I get around to it.
>>
>>62130486
Well, let's hope i'll have shekels available when you're selling it.

As i'm likely going to get my 8346 checked and perhaps serviced.
