Hi /g/
I broke my network cable and need to buy a new one, but since the selection is so big i was hoping you could guide me to the right cable.
my net is 20/10 (ik i need to upgrade) and from what i understand cat5e should be good enough but will it fit into the outlet? because i have a ethernet cable that's too big to fit into the outlet in the wall

The cable i tried plugging into the outlet was a "patch cable category 5e stranded" but it wouldn't fit. it doesn't say what cable it needs on the outlet

Dsl cable

RJ-11

Anon, I...
>>62100354
Imma run it from the outlet directly to my pc, and that cable will work just fine?
>>62100379
Not unless your computer has a DSL modem. Anon, that's a fucking telephone jack.
>>62100379
Not unless you have a modem in your computer. Ethernet cables use RJ-45. RJ-11 is for telephone cables.
>>62100379
Yes it will. Don't listen to the others. They troll you
>>62100421
Great, thanks so much imma go buy me >>62100377
>>62100421
This guy is trolling you. RJ-11 won't fit to the ethernet port on your PC
>>62100621
It will clip in, but it doesn't have enough conductors to carry a network signal.

rj11 fits into a rj45. An now I know was OP did:
By using a rj11 cable on both ends of his in house phone cabling he connected his PC and router.
This *works* but it uses only have of the signal pairs and limits the connection to 100Mbit.

don't do this OP you'll destroy your computer, telephone cables send power too not only data
