Looking for simple alternatives to MDT. Anyone here working in IT Administration and using something similar to deploy machines? We thought about going for SCCM but it's expensive and way too complex for the simple task we need to accomplish. Deploy PCs and join them to a Domain in a LTI fashion. It doesn't need to be ZTI.

Why don't you use something like puppet/ansible

Windows Deployment Server with unattended answer file to automatically configure OOBE / Domain settings? Or preconfigured install image?

Octopus deploy maybe?
SCCM is a piece of shit that scales like ass if you don't implement standards early on and stick to them

Right now we have a .wim file and configure an answer (only a few settings) from within MDT and then deploy that shit with PXE. Basically only entering domain settings at the PC as we don't want to store passwords in config files.
Which works fine and is basically what we are looking for. I am just investigating alternatives and similar tools that do the job.

Will take a look, haven't heard of this one before.
OPSI seems too complex and fog is Linux based which doesn't fit our environment.

Yeah, SCCM seems like too big a project to set up at the moment.
