Hey I am living in a dorm right now and using the WIFI.
Can my "dormmates" see my network activity?
And if they can how?
How easy is it to spot what I am browsing?
Is there no basic protection against this?
Because I remember using Wireshark when I was 18, but I didnt really figure it out but I could spot some traffic.
Why do you care so much? Nothing to hide, nothing to fear!

No one cares if you watch porn, grow up.
If it's wpa2 you are OK against wifi sniffing. However, if someone has access to the AP they can see your DNS queries easily. Any non https website contents can also be seen.
Since it's a dorm, the administrators can easily log your dns queries and non https content.

Your doormates don't care what websites you are visiting. Your college can see what websites you are visiting and anything unencrypted so you should get a VPN if you're worried about them. Or just use your phones internet for piracy and visiting /pol/ tier websites.
Sorry op nobody is going to spoon-feed you how to spy on the hot girl down the hall
Ok, so if I get a VPN i should be fine?
Unless you're doing something extra illegal like cheese pizza or defrauding people, nobody cares what you do on the internet.
Although fapping to lolis might warrant it too if your country is retarded.

All you need is a rooted phone and to be on the same network as the target, i use it to spy on ppl when traveling, i can see their websites/images/passwords and much more

Technically speaking anybody in the same room can sniff your wifi packets.
If you wanna make sure you aren't being followed, go somewhere else or encrypt your traffic.

Wow!
But I'm wondering. Will a VPN protect me?

If they have access to the routers administration console they can view the network logs. Other than that so long as you have a secured wifi connection it isn't possible.

Not really sure, haven't tested it
Ssh into router, view logs or tcpdump.
Also they can MITM and redirect traffic, decrypt with SSLStrip

not true with most home routers. if you're on the network you can sniff/redirect/ddos very easily, even from an android phone

How come? Unless the router is using WEP or easily guessable passwords. I don't think it's possible to hack into it and sniff packets.

Install DNScrypt.
>>62080684
No, vpn so lay hide your ip. If they got access to your network they could still spy all your shit.
Install DNScrypt on your computer and router.

so lay = only. Stupid autocorrector.
