Give people recommendations on what to buy according to their needs, discuss DIY kits and people also post their DIY projects (very interesting if you care at all about /g/ stuff), people post pictures of their keyboards, discuss the different types of switches and which are best, etc.
What do people talk about in Arch Linux threads? What do people talk about in headphone generals?

Personally they helped me pick the keyboard I bought so I think they are useful.

Generals are fine, they help by each having extensive faqs and adressing their specific domains so the board does not get flooded by threads created each time some dude comes here with a question
this way we have like 15 generals with links to resources instead of a bazillion of short lived threads
now if only we banned amd/intel shitposting we could use the remaining thread slots for productive discussions

But another issue is that /g/ isn't an incredibly active board, moves a bit slow. I'd worry about one dying.

We should have a separate board for /g/ generals, as well as a special board specifically for computer programming and software development. Gaming hardware and low tier shit like ricing stays here.
