Honestly, I'm going to get the Note 8, because my Note 4 served me well ( I cant remember the last time I had a phone for several years always on me) but its currently going to shit freezing all the time, also I like huge screens and the pen.
I also really want to dick around with VR, so the need for a new phone + my current interests makes me not really care about starting a new payment plan.

The the G4 would probably the best and most feature packed phone if it wasn't for the bootloop issues. I hope a refurbished unit will solve that issue. But I heard otherwise. Still fishing for one on eBay.

I own several flagship phones atm (Z3c, XZ Premium, LG V20) because I am trying to upgrade from my LG G3 but none of them seems to deliver a complete package like the G3/G4.

The V20 is close to G3/G4 but there are a few things that annoy me:

- Camera Autofocus is crap compared to G3/G4
- It's a little too wide for my hands
- slightly curved Display (only some glas protectors will fit)
- volume buttons on the left side (why not on the back, on the back is awesome)
- fingerprint sensor fails to recognize my finger some times, but maybe my fingers have been greasy

Why don't they make phones like the G4 anymore? Minus the boot loop. Would be awesome.

If you're a normal adult, you budget yourself and having a fixed cost bill that is always the same month after month is generally not a problem for most adults to handle.

Paying $1000 upfront might put someone in financial stress where an emergency could hit and they'd not be able to pay for it. Paying $30 a month however is no problem. and since you know it's that price, every single month, you're expecting to pay it, every single month.

Unless you've got $2000+ of disposable income every single month, I just don't see why I would pay it off upfront. Even if I could reasonably afford it, it's not as if it saves me money.

/gee/ I don't want to buy a new phone but having access to iTunes (all my shows and music are from there due to macos) on a mobile device is something I would like to do, especially since itunes videos/movies/series have DRM on them so i'm literally forced to either remove the DRM and install spyware for that, or use itunes.

This. But, if you can swing it, I'd recommend the original Moto Z Play. You can get it for around $350 or less now. It's legendary for a reason. They really nailed it on balancing performance and battery life. I think the reason they gimped Z2 Play was to sell more mods and they probably sold WAY more Z Play's than their flagship Z last year. I bought my s7e second hand for 400€ almost a year ago and I've been quite pleased with it. I used to root and flash roms with earlier phones I had, but due to our new corporate security policies I couldn't anyway root my phone anymore if I wanted to get my work email account to my phone.. so I'm stuck with stock software in any case.

Nah, not since I discovered the wonder of chink phones. My previous phone was a moto g lte, then I upgraded to a redmi note 3 Pro, which turned out to be the most solid cost/performance phone ice ever owned. It was even cheaper than what I paid for the moto g.

When I was growing up, camcorders were really, really expensive. So were cameras. Now you can have ok ones that fit in one device and you can carry everywhere.

No more than 500ish for me. I am trying to keep my phones for more than three years at a time from this point forward. Still kicking with my (replaced on warranty and outside of the boot loop models) LG G4. I figure once the battery life gets shit i can just replace it.

I know people are salty about boot loops but it's not acceptable to not have a removeable battery

Possibly, but only if I was intended on keeping it for close to 5yrs. I paid a bit north of $900 for my 6S, after all was said and done. I don't plan on dumping it a new phone anytime soon seeing as how it seems to work the same.

At least with Samsung phones you can get heavy discounts or price reductions in a few months.

With iPhone/Pixel you have to pretty much pay the MSRP throughout the whole fucking year.
