The issue is probably the difference between the systems, also the file destination shouldn't be ~/ASMR for obvious reasons.

Well it won't get merged into master until all of the remaining issues are ironed out. Rough summary:

- scaler LUTs loading needs to be reworked
- descriptor pool code needs to be rewritten
- uniform loading needs to be refactored, we also probably need to at least support using UBOs instead of PCs
^- in going with the former, we also need to clean up / trim down some of our uniform sizes, especially the shitty mat2 texture_rot
^- to accomplish this, the rotation handling needs to be refactored (should be delayed to the scaler always)
- we need to lose the VK_NV_glsl_shader dependency. glslang is too shit to be used directly so I plan on trying out libshaderc

those are HARD requirements before vulkan has any chance of being merged, because the current code is either broken or extremely limited. There are also still rendering bugs, but I suspect those have to do with the uniform code (partially because apparently VK_NV_glsl_shader is broken and violates the spec)

So my next plan of attack is to stick with VK_NV_glsl_shader but just not use the buggy push constants (and instead use UBOs). Sorry, AMD/intel users - you'll have to wait for a solution to exist

Why the hell are you using dxinterop?? That shit is WINDOWS ONLY!

framedrop=vo, vo=opengl, and hwdec=no are the default settings; interpolation=yes is not a thing, antiring settings don't affect ewa scalers. Did you even fucking read the manual?

Try this
profile=opengl-hq
scale=ewa_lanczossharp
cscale=ewa_lanczossoft
video-sync=display-resample
interpolation
tscale=oversample

It's possible that some of the artifacts you're mistaking as ringing are in fact caused by the debanding stuff. You could try adding:
deband=no

Also, pastebin your compton.conf file as well cause it's probably just as broken you fucking asshole.

>>

interpolation=yes
is the same as
interpolation
>>
>>62092948
Okay, you're right. It's not mentioned in the manual but the command line/log message it spits out when an invalid option is given says the same thing. Possible values are yes, no, or nothing.

I also double checked the source code to see how it works. Seems that different options are given different "types". The type for 'interpolation' is "flag" and when flags are parsed they're set to a value of 0 or 1 internally (you cannot pass 0 or 1 as values). In particular, setting passing yes or nothing will both parse the exact same way (setting an internal value of 1), while passing no will parse differently (set an internal value of 0). Anything else will return a parse error.

I haven't poked around mpv's source code very much before and am kind of pleased with their neat abstractions.

on a quick check i don't see ringing in those, but quality doesn't seem overwhelming, either. anyway, it's hard to say without having the low-res images for comparison which you used for upscaling with fsrcnn, to compare with e.g. ngu sharp.

it seems you've taken a high-res image, downscaled it (which algo?) and then upscaled it again with fsrcnn, right? what happens if you upscale sharp images that weren't downscaled at all?
>>
>>62096569
FSRCNN-TensorFlow downscales your hi-res image with bicubic (only b=0, c=1 is available) and then upscales with fsrcnn.

>what happens if you upscale sharp images that weren't downscaled at all?
It's possible, only need to modify FSRCNN-TensorFlow a bit.

>>
>>62096748
well, isn't that kind of cheating? allowing fsrcnn to downscale and then upscale again? at least that's not real world usage. fsrcnn isn't really an upscaler, it's an "bicubic downscale reverter". so if you test it like this, you're testing it under ideal conditions, which we don't have in real life, when playing video.

is a 10x speedup factor really realistic? isn't the math the key limitation?
>>
>>62099095
FSRCNN is just trivial dot products (it's not like NNEDI3), so I think the sampling outweighs the math. There's also shittons of redundancy store/load and memory roundtrips going on because doing it with samplers requires like 10 passes. With compute shaders you could merge all of those feature vector passes into a single compute shader pass.

Anyway the 10x speedup is a guess I made based on the full (56,12,4) FSRCNN which is currently not even implemented (because it would be *way* too slow with sampling), since that one would require all of the intermediate passes to be split into feature vector maps as well.

In theory there are lots of benefits. In practice i doubt it will be any better than what we have currently. Well, maybe in a year there will be some gains.
>>
>>62099506
- More control over the swapchain
- More consistency across platforms/drivers/etc.
- More control over resource allocation/deallocation

On platforms where OpenGL works well (e.g. nvidia+linux), I doubt we'll see a reason to use vulkan any time soon. On platforms where OpenGL doesn't work well (e.g. windows) it will probably be more useful.

The advanced swapchain control can enable some new features though.

Finally making the switch from MPC-HC to mpv, and I'm having trouble with finding some config file locations on Windows. I already made and finished my mpv.conf file, but I'm unable to figure out where input.conf and osc.conf are supposed to be. Tried placing my input.conf in a few folders and didn't seem to be working. Anyone know the definite locations for these two files?

And on a sidenote, if anybody saved the info for keybindings similar to MPC-HC that I've seen in the /mpv/ OP in the past, I would greatly appreciate it. Currently looking through archives to find it.
