Bro if you're doing something complicated enough to need a book, bash is not the right choice. Bash has more gotchas than a $2 Ugandan hooker.

Use Python or Ruby instead. Ruby is the comfiest comfy their is, like a warm blanket on a cold morning. However, Ruby isn't always around, like your deadbeat Dad, so sticking with mother Python is sometimes the better choice.

I know this seems like a flippant and mean response but it's the truth. Learn and use almost any other scripting language instead of Bash. Like obviously you should be familiar with the basics, but any platform that lets you use Bash is gonna let you use Python, Ruby, Elixir, Perl, or even a Lisp with just one download if you need something to act as glue or to automate tasks quickly. Using Bash for anything serious is just such a beat down. Every once in a while I'll get it in my thick head to use it for something important and by the 100th line I always say "fuck this" and re-write it in another language without the headache.
