8gb of RAM if you opt for it
128gb internal storage if you opt for it
Snapdragon 835
Excellent battery usage

>Hot garbage camera in low light

Palm Pixi. Already outdated by the time I bought it for university in September 2010. Horrible camera, no WiFi, stuck on Bell's CDMA network, no mSD slot and near-useless levels of internal storage (8 GB total, of which about 7GB was available to the user. At one point I re-ripped my entire music library in 96 Kbps MP3 so it would fit). But for all its limitations, it was super light and comfy. WebOS was fantastic. And for a long time I had no desire to upgrade- for basic phone things, it just worked, and carried me through most of university. Despite Palm's reputation for flakey hardware, I put it through a lot of abuse and it never let me down. A lot of good memories from my trusty tool. That being said, when I eventually got a Blackberry Q5 in late 2013, it felt like using alien technology in comparison, despite the fact that it was NOT a cutting edge phone.

IMO the s7. It has better specs so if you can get them near the same price why not?

Couple buddies I know each have 1 respectively. S7 definitely feels more comfy in the hand. Then again the g5 was just as comfy and you can get it new for the same price or cheaper.

I'd go for the g5 my dude.

So I've never owned a smart phone before, as I've had a case of the poor. Recently graduated and want to quickly pick up something more budget-y before moving across the country this weekend to Commiefornia. Looking at reviews, thinking of picking up a Moto Z Play from a nearby Verizon store. Thoughts?

The camera settings say a 16:9 pic is 6MP and a 4:3 is 8MP. Does that mean that 4:3 photos have better quality?

G6 is the best of the bunch overall, in terms of features and build quality, being a 2017 "flagship". The only real downside is the CPU being not top notch, with subsequent thermal efficiency and battery life not being really that great, but the current street price make it kinda worth it everything considered.

If you don't care about the SD slot, IP certification, bezelless meme, and money, but absolutely want a SD835, or you just prefer a telephoto lens instead of a wide angle as second camera, then get the OP5.

Flash the stock Indian ZUI ROM first, basically it's the stock English ROM for this phone, there's no Indian bloat or weird shit. It even comes with Google launcher stock. The stock ROMs supports the camera and U touch functions better than the third party roms and it has stock nougat already so there's no reason to use LineageOS or whatever to get newer Android. It'll also retain OTA updates this way.

Had no problems with the stock indian ZUI. Nova prime with notification badges added perfects it. Never had any heat issues on the stock ROM either.

So you're essentially buying it from other people that you don't know and trusting they didn't fuck with the phone in any way. Risky enough that I wouldn't.
Try using https://swappa.com/ if you plan on buying used, the ESN of the phone is checked and verified so you know you aren't getting a blocked, blacklisted or otherwise fucked phone that you wouldn't know until you tried using it.

Depends on what OS, assuming you're talking android, sure. big.LITTLE makes a ton of sense with how the OS treats applications.

iOS however was designed for larger monolithic core design, so bigger faster cores instead of more small cores.

Both philosophies have their advantages and disadvantages, you just have to design your OS around it.

The iPhone has always been ridiculously expensive, and nobody ever complained. Samshit followed Apple's lead and now everyone to make an impression has to set a minimum of 700€ price tag on their flagships.

The alternative is the chink shit, that is affordable for basically the same hardware, but hardware is only half of the story. Moreover chinkhones are now becoming more and more expensive the bigger their name gets outside of Asia, like OnePlus, that jumped the shark with the OP5.

SD660 can't come soon enough, but I'm sure they'll slap it into sub-par midrange phones in terms of features and build quality.

I know we get a BOM and other shit about the iphones and stuff, but if the maker doesn't move enough phones even if the BOM is 1/3 to 1/4 the retail price of the phone they still end up losing money.

I think a few years ago Sonys sales were not that great , lets just say they moved 15m phones instead of 20m and their mobile division ended up losing like 70m

Honestly, I think the best value for phones is usually last years models.
Samsung and Apple can command such higher prices due also to people wanting their phones, look how cheap the LG G6 has gotten already

This was the phone that turned me off Android for five years. I got this when I first went to uni, and while impressive at first it quickly devolved into a laggy bucket of shit. I got an iPhone 4 after the end of first year and didn't even glance in Android's direction until my iPhone 6 developed touch disease late last year. I ultimately decided to get it fixed for $150, but the fact that Apple were such dicks about the whole thing convinced me to get an Android phone when my next upgrade is due.

what's a good phone for around $200 for t-mobile?

it an be a chink phone or whatever idc. current phone is a dying galaxy s 6 with a cracked screen.

Having a Note 3, I can't tell if I should continue waiting for the Note 8 and shell out more money, or go for an S8+ for bigger battery life. I don't really need the S Pen. The 2 extra gigs of RAM may be worth it, not sure about the dual cameras.

Thoughts?

>>62071978
>Being this stupid
>>
>>62072407
The battery life is 5% different. I dont think it will matter too much in that regard, both should manage a full day of moderate to heavy use, and a half day of extreme use (full brightness youtube or netflix streaming for a few hours)
>>
>>62072534
Thanks, lad. Appreciate it. Now just needa debate cost vs dual camera and RAM. Think I'll be leaning towards Note 8.
>>
>>62072534
but wouldn't it be even less considering the Note8 is more resource-hungry with 6 gigs of ram as opposed to 8+'s 4?
>>
>>62072603
I've already got mine pre-ordered.

The $100-150 off from best buy on top of the 128GB mSD card and Wireless charger sealed the deal.

>>62072618
RAM isn't really going to effect battery life considerably, maybe it would shave 10-20 minutes off the total run time compared to an S8+. But it wouldn't be super significant. Primary power drain is CPU/GPU and the display.

Why do you choose to lie on an anonymous image board with no user ID?

Redmi note 4 has
>Overheating and throttling deca core processor that manages to perform much worse than the quad core in the Zuk Z2
>Worse battery life than the Zuk Z2 despite having 500mAh higher capacity
>Worse camera than the Zuk Z2 with no slow motion
>No image stabilisation for the camera when shooting videos
>Micro USB instead of the type c plug Zuk is using

I can keep going on if you're so desperate to be proven wrong.

Xiaomi is still better on every way regardless what the fuck you want to bluster or claim.

Honor 8 obviously.

Does really anyone here recommend that beautiful piece of shit?

Can you elaborate on how it is so obvious? Forgot to add I can get them for the same price

Is there any way for the seller to know if i flash RR into my redmi 4x and then flash MIUI 8 back? I don't want to lose my warranty.
>>
>>62067415
I do not think a firmware update fixes this. This is a hardware issue. The only phone I believe to have confirmed the 600 band is the LG V30

I wish there was a bezelless phone like the xiaomi mi mix that is cheaper and smaller.
>>

Xperia xz.

Just do a side by side on GSMarena.

Anything like the new Xiaomi but with a better camera (~20MP) and perhaps not a note?

So I dun fucked up and posted yesterday without lurking these threads at all. Sorry.
Anyway reading through this thread and the last spg I've noticed alot of people just like me, also not lurking and just posting asking about replacements for Nexus 6p (I sense conspiracy that they are all breaking at the same time). Loved that phone when I first got it but I'm sick of the botnet and google spying on my constantly (and poorly I might add).
I live in Guam and use Docomo Pacific as my carrier at the moment but when I go back to the states I will probably go back to T-mobile. I like unlocked phones though, as my trip to Thailand it was nice to just chuck a sim card in. I used to be all up on the phone game back before everyone on the planet had smartphones but I haven't looked at anything since even a year before the 6p came out and I just bought it because my little brothers Nexus2 lasted for like 5 years and was amazing.
I don't want to pay $150 to buy a replacement screen for a phone that pisses me off anyway. My favorite thing about the phone at this point is the fingerprint scanner being on the back and using that to wake the phone.
Should I bite the bullet and buy an absurdly priced unlocked Samsung? I had an S4 a long time ago and couldn't stand all the bloatware shit on it but I'm worried if I do spend a thousand dollars on one of these things and root it that it will run like shit without its native apps to run things like their weird curvy screens and 3 cameras and stuff.
I'm sure I sound like a retard but I haven't kept up on tech stuff since 2013. I liked that the 6p was "large" enough for reading so I was thinking maybe pre-order the Note8.
Are there any mid-high end chink phones that are better price and deal wise? I don't really want a phone that will be worse than my 6p was.
TL;DR is the Note8/S8+ worth a grand? Is it going to be full of bullshit redundant apps like a stock camera gallery and then also a Samsung Gallery app?
>>
>>62073323
>Megapixels are what make a camera good
Lol just buy a Sony or LeEco

Can you recommend me a model

>>62073217
>bezelless phone
They're starting to pop up now, there isn't a lot of choice but we'll get there eventually
>like the xiaomi mi mix
I don't recommend such design, because it's extremely fragile. There are better borderless-ish designs like the LG G6 that can withstand accidental drops much better.
>that is cheaper and smaller
Doogee Mix

Meizu pro 7 has a better camera than the Xiaomi, so does Google pixel, mi5s, etc.

Honor 8 is very good value for the camera if that's all that matters

Does anyone make a unlocked android rugged-ized outdoor phone that isn't a piece of shit? I get that there will probably never be a phone that I can take surfing as any impact on the water will inevitably get thru some little rubber seal but I work outside so rain, mud, dirt etc are a part of my life and I despise phone cases.

what's up with the retarded fingerprint sensor location on the new samsungs? anyone held one? do you end up fingering the fucking camera lens constantly?

Yeah, it's honestly the biggest flaw of them, but overall not a huge annoyance, especially with facial recognition and iris scanning shit.

Thanks man, this thing is blowing my mind. Any suggestion on where to buy from that would preferably ship USPS? Guam is tough to get some things shipped to but I think my company has a Fedex account here and I could get it from ebay then.
Tough to decide this or Note8, I don't vidya much anymore so no reason for me to bring itx PC around when I travel if SamsungDex works. It kinda looks like a gimmick tho

What's the point of a fully touch screen Blackberry? Their competitive advantage is their hardware keyboard. Their software keyboard is nothing special, and without the actual keys, the slab phone is no different from all the other slab phones out there, especially now that they run Android.

The Blackberry 9300 was my first smartphone, but my Q5 was the first one I actually used as a smartphone. Loved that thing. I wish they just made this, with Android.

I'm looking for the best bang for buck budget phone.
It will be used in Mexico with AT&T.
I don't have any hard requirements for it, just fast enough so a normie can use it without bitching that Facebook is slow.
Currently an LG Magna doesn't cut it. I was thinking moto g 4 play. Is that any good?
