just got a model m. are they just a meme or are they actually fantastic?
I use a Unicomp at work and Model M at home. Great keyboards.
At one point they where awesome, because you could find them almost anywhere for free, or very cheap. Now they are just overhyped by keyboard hipsters who identify themselves with the stuff they use.

yeah i didn't want to spend $98 on it but i'll be doing a lot of coding this coming semester so i'm looking forward to using it. sad i wasn't really into the computer scene until recently but hey

It's a keyboard. Not super nice if you ask me. Just a keyboard.
They aren’t the greatest keyboards ever made, even when considering other IBM’s, but they’re pretty good.

I've brought 4 of these, and never paid more than $60 shipped.
I have 3 working ones, home, work, and backup.

>Recent IBM model M owner
I found one from a local guy and got it for 50 eurobux and indeed it's one of the best you can get.
Pros:
>Sound
>Feel (for me it's better than cherry mx)
>Build quality, and i havent seen better keycaps to date
Cons
>It may annoy coworkers/family etc cause of the heavy sound
>Also some old models may show signs of broken rivets but it is fixable

None of those are cons.

Nice keyboard, but they've gotten so expensive lately. When I bought mine five years ago people called me retarded for spending 60 bucks on one that still had the original box.
i got one for free from one of my companies old offices. brought it home and its good to have around. i use it sometimes

i do prefer my mx brown Filco in every way though.
