How do we solve the Intel/AMD duopoly problem?
>>
Get IBM in the mix

Subsidize semiconductor fabrication plants. Unironically.

In b4 burgers complain about >muh socialism
While their tax dollars are used to build $100 million dollar college football stadiuns
>>
Get me $100 million and I'll start some manufacturing industry in China that makes fully libre hardware
>>
>>62035517
You can't. X86 is heavily locked down by patents
>>
>>62035527
IBM is already on AMD's side
>>
>>62035517
VIA master race.
>>
>>62035527
this
hopefully the talos II isn't shit
>>
>not using Zhaoxin x86 8c/16t 14nm CPU
谢谢

>>62036340
IBM is on IBM's side. Buy a talos II, and show IBM that they are wanted in people's home set up then they'll, put some real focus in the low end desktop consumer space.

where would I even buy this stuff?

kill x86
>>
>>62035517
Fuck off Jen-Hsun, you leather clad manlet.
You'll never, *ever* get your hands on an x86/_64 license.
>>
>>62035517
Wait until 7nm/5nm process ARM SoCs are manufactured in decent quantities. At that point low powered SoCs will likely be able to match a Thinkpad T420 and it will be possible for a group to crowdfund an SBC capable of running entirely FOSS software/firmware, and you'll have no problem getting by with cheap open hardware so long as you aren't intent on running tons of bloatware.

this

>>62036616
By that time zen 2 will be out and we'll have 8-core 15W chips for laptops.

China.

Lenovo China

Zen 2 comes out next year. Also, what does it matter what specs other people's computers have when you basically need to run tons of bloatware to actually take advantage of those specs during normal usage. I'm still having no problem with an original AMD Phenom from 2008.

nice just bought 100k

>college stadiums

Fuck that's chump change, how about doing in with the drug war and drastically cutting the number of police to make a huge cut in the prison inmate retention and destroying private prisons while greatly limiting the innumerable parasites mooching off the system and giving a guise of false security to get paid.

How about we cut ourselves out of the countless nations we're defending since lol WWII, Cold War, Korea, Vietnam that nobody else seems to want to help pay for or defend. Cut out the endless war budget which cost us trillions of dollars? Stop corporate subsidies, and instead socialize the means entirely, at least in select instances. Stop pushing dysfunctional tech though, using government cheese for a shitty kickstarter and burning through our national cash reserves, which sit well beyond zero.

>>62036426
is it x86_64 too?
>>
Apple will solve it soon.

I'm planning to kickstart a company that buys AMD GPU's and make my own AiB cards strictly for gamers. Who wants to join me? Miners not allowed.

i'll design the logo

This. The future for crowd funded open SBCs powerful enough for normal tasks is so bright that I need to use my eclipse glasses to look at it.
