Part of the reason for the split is the pasta was becoming too cyb heavy. That was all I was seeing being added regularly. cyb doesn't lose in this case.
>>
>>62032631
>using passwords, not aes keypairs

>>62040659
yeah seemed there was some aggregation i guess.
>>
>>62040700
>>62040731

Well, we can still cross reference threads in the OPs in worst case scenario. There's some overlapping on both topics.
>>
>>62040731
>i don't know who to trust anymore. if you can't trust the /cyb/+/sec/ OP from imploding his own damn thread,
I was takeover OP while he was dying. ive always been pure sec and protested the merge from the start. I made the threads in his stead because I'm a phone poster, hence why the last few have had >embed
in the pasta, because I just copy and paste. It's slowed down too much, the fighting about wether or not Akira is cyb, constantly wondering if one of you people is going to start another politics derail; it was making me not enjoy this at all anymore.

I feel like I'm leveing up faster than this thread is too, since I have no life and all I do is study. I'd hang around and hope maderas would turn up, and feel like I'd wasted my time if he didn't.

I hope you guys enjoy yourself better now you have your own thread without people telling you you're LARPers for enjoying an aesthetic.

Peace

Top Gun Guy

We had this question last thread, was that you? I made a suggestion here >>61989358

Additionally, I'd like to suggests a totally different solution: HF radios, pic. related. If you know some EW you can both communicate around the world while also being fairly resistant against counter measures such as direction finding and jamming. I haven't had the time to make a paste about EW, sorry abut that.

It really boils down to use cases. Now that we have seen the last of /sec/ I assume you are more interested in the /cyb/ angle than /sec/. For outré looks the Palm Pre is hard to beat. Same for possibilities of customisation (fairly open Linux setup) with still active community.

Some old phones such as Sony Ericsson P1i have an antenna jack which really ups the game in terms of using better antenna, gaining operational distance and reducing chance of over the air intercept. I wish they brought that back rather than fetishising Apple looks and excessive slimness.

Using the latest SDR front ends and the latest Snapdragons would be appealing but that invites unknown backdoors. Given the immense popularity of Snapdragon one must assume Qualcomm has been "persuaded" to add a dozen separate backdoors into those huge chips.
>>
>>62041420

I like that turn of phrase...purity testing.

I always just took what someone said (if it was interesting) in this field and investigated it and/or tested its validity...I learned more that way.: if it was false or flawed, I learned caution and the truth. If what they said was true, then investigation further grew that understanding.

Ask less questions, find more answers. What I am now means a million times less then what I am working to be (which will never be good enough or the best, so the learning/development never ends).

>Computer Security and Privacy in DNA Sequencing
http://dnasec.cs.washington.edu/
>DNA stores standard nucleotides—the basic structural units of DNA—as letters such as A, C, G, and T. After sequencing, this DNA data is processed and analyzed using many computer programs. It is well known in computer security that any data used as input into a program may contain code designed to compromise a computer. This lead us to question whether it is possible to produce DNA strands containing malicious computer code that, if sequenced and analyzed, could compromise a computer.
>To assess whether this is theoretically possible, we included a known security vulnerability in a DNA processing program that is similar to what we found in our earlier security analysis. We then designed and created a synthetic DNA strand that contained malicious computer code encoded in the bases of the DNA strand. When this physical strand was sequenced and processed by the vulnerable program it gave remote control of the computer doing the processing. That is, we were able to remotely exploit and gain full control over a computer using adversarial synthetic DNA.

Exploiting computer programs with synthetic DNA: no cause for concern, today.

C++ is used....especially where WIndows is concerned.

More general purpose sec languages would be C, Python, Perl, VBA (especially for crafting Windows exploits/droppers such as Excel/Office Macros) , ASM....Ruby (if you are planning on working with Metasploit).

Really, almost every language can be leveraged for security now do to the work of others...however, C, C++ Python and Perl seem to be among the ones I see discussed and used most.

For the record, my programming is serviceable at best...I can program enough C to get things working/customized, but I use Python whenever I am able.

For scripting languages I use Bash and Powershell the most (though Python has been described as a scripting language as well).
>>62072105
Not all of us have.

I mixed up some deleted/edited comments tin my last comment.....I do not see VBA,ASM and Rubymeeting most folks definition of sec general purpose....they are mostly utilized for exploit creation/development or module dev where Ruby is concerned.

For vulnerability research jobs, would the employer expect you to be an expert C/C++ programmer or just expect you to know enough about the language that you can spot problems during source code analysis/reverse engineering?

I'm planning to apply for a vulnerability research job and although I'm confident in my ability to feel my way around C/spot bugs in source code, I'm much better at daily programming stuff with Python.
>>
>>62075863
>I'm confident in my ability to feel my way around C/spot bugs in source code
you really need the ability to spot it in compiled code.
how is your assembly knowledge?
>>
>>62075330
a what?
>>
>>62075902
x86 knowledge is decent, I know enough to be able to recognize what I'm seeing in a disassembler and guess at what the source code probably is (but, I still need to Google a lot). I've written some simple NASM programs before as well. I'm planning to pick up amd64 soon so I can get into 64-bit reverse engineering.
>>
>>62076107
>what I'm seeing in a disassembler and guess at what the source code probably is
dont worry about what you *think* the source code was or could have been.
the source code doenst matter.
the source code is not what is exploited, the compiled binary is.
what you want to get good at looking what is being pushed onto stacks and into memory and how much.
what you will exploit most commonly is writing more data into memory or pushing onto the stack than what is expected, the idea is that when the next call to pop or read a location from memory occurs you want it to be reading opcodes/data that you put there by writing larger chunks of information than what was expected earlier
>>
>>62076187
In terms of becoming competent at vulnerability research/static analysis, is the bulk of it mainly being good at recognizing when you're looking at assembly code that can probably be leveraged by you to become a security risk? Such as a buffer overflow, heap overflow, integer overflow, etc.

I suppose that comes with experience as you become better at reading assembly and recognizing patterns that belong to exploitable code?
>>
>>62076245
mostly, yes.
Only in certain cases will you actually have access to source code, but that normally doesnt mean much anyways
take for example the Xen vulnerability XSA-148
>https://xenbits.xen.org/xsa/advisory-148.html
the same source code compiled on two different architectures. on ARM, this bug does not exist. on x86 processors a malicious guest vm can create their own memory mappings and gain control of domain 0 of the hypervisor, giving them full access to anything and everything.

highlights the point that it is the compiled binary that matters, not the source, because the same source code created an exploitable x86 binary, and a non-exploitable arm binary.

>I suppose that comes with experience as you become better at reading assembly and recognizing patterns that belong to exploitable code?
yes
>>
>>62076297
Ahhh, okay I understand now. I suppose I'm putting too much emphasis on C source code analysis at the moment and need to put more time into binary analysis/reverse engineering. I think I'll start with finishing some assembly books and practicing on old CTFs. Thanks for the explanation!

Bit of PVC painted with a texture similar to the rest of the house would work well.
4 rods in a rectangle(or square), wrap her around, boom, done.
Reason for PVC is so you can make it transparent to loads of frequencies rather than just the lower ends.
Who knows, you might want to do some fun line-of-sight directional shit one day.

When's infecting your own DNA with a virus to do the same thing?
Inject a stream of data in the non-coding area somewhere that will shit on DNA analysis.
Mind you, they might not care to scan that area anyway.
Biohacking of the future TODAY! Buy your own methylation device on your local dark net.

Shit is about to hit the fan in that regard.
People have been experimenting with it all around the world in "unlicensed research".
How long before some dumb college dropout cunt makes a super virus that wipes out half his country because he wanted to make all his veins glow when it is night time?

Tsuki got called out on his earlier posts on /r9k/ and reddit where he talked about his psychosis and it got to him.
He didn't make much with donations, around 300 dollars iirc.
The memes survive on systemspace.rip. Hopefully someone will make a site with a similar aesthetic soon, I liked the lore and music.

A lot of sites have extensive lists of supposed cyberpunk movies/tv series/books/music/etc and in many cases I cannot see the connection.

TV Tropes has extensive lists and at least some arguments as to why this be cyberpunk. Wiki hardly does as this would be "original research".

YOU THINK ID DO MORE WORK FOR FUN? SOFT IS EASIER YOU ENORMOUS CUNT

this has to be a false flag to rile up the sec community (which is male and white because infosec is a turbo nerd subsection of a nerd industry) so they can screech how the Caucasian white man is the devil
