Buy brand-name batteries from big-name stores.
Many $2 shops hold stocks of counterfeit coin-cells that fail on first use.
Also, check the use-by date. Some battery technology is time-sensitive; the chemicals are deteriorating from the date of manufacture.
I went through a heap of 2032s on my remote before I woke up.
Now I buy brand-names cells in small quantities. They cost more initially, but less over time.
