Too brainlet for C = too brainlet for all proglangs
GG
>>62018773
takes a while to click, then all of a sudden it's the simplest language
easier than a lot of higher level languages because they often make you jump through a lot of hoops to do simple things for "safety" purposes, etc
>>62018773
It's simple as hell, are you mentally handicapped?
Install Pelles C.
>>62018786
You mean ==, not =
>>62018773
c, unlike all languages, it starts very simple, but the more you know, the harder it becomes
>>62018928
Underrated
>>62018773
read it
even if you don't usually read books it's worth it
>>62018928
>>62018797
What takes a while to click? C is pretty straightforward
There's a lot of REALLY good sources that teach C++ for absolute beginners too, which I haven't exactly seen for C.
But once you know C++, you can easily learn C.
>>62018797
>easier than a lot of higher level languages because they often make you jump through a lot of hoops to do simple things for "safety" purposes, etc
if you come across this it means you are a literal retard who writes unsafe useless code / unhireable
>>62021481
its the opposite though
k&r is super easy
>>62021555
I haven't read it, how is it structured? Not OP but I might give it a shot.
>>62021565
it explains every single language feature through examples and simple problems in like 200 pages
you can read it in two sittings and wow now you know C
>>62021580
Does it have exercises?
>>62021591
Yes
>>62018803
reinventing wheel is not simple
>>62021602
its simple but its retarded
>>62021600
Sounds good I'll give it a try. thanks anon
>>62018786
>>62018928
OUCH ;^)
>>62021481
Two completely different languages.
When I was taught C++ and assembly, it was always assumed that we knew what the C code meant.
Stuff like loops and general syntax is very easy to grasp, so there is never a need to teach that.
It is like teaching people to write a period after a sentence or put spaces between words.
i dont understand why people have such a problem with this concept: C is not a subset of C++. C++ is an OOP SUPERSET of C. If you learn C, you know how to program. If you want to move on to C++ for the ease of developing LARGE programs, you already know most of the language constructs.
>>62021781
Most people here don't know either programming language, they are too busy complaining about the redundancy of libraries or some undefined behavior.
>>62021555
>>62021580
I find K&R's exercises to be pretty difficult, and tedious. Am I a retard?
me too mang, can't self-taught myself C, usually get lost somewhere after pointers and into malloc/calloc functions
haven't tried C++
>>62022842
*self-teach
>>62022352
I think you just need to unironically try harder and you can do it anon
>>62022910
I guess. All the text manipulation stuff is starting to bore me, and it's not easy enough that I can just do it without thinking either. Will it really make me a better programmer?
>>62022936
Not doing isn't gonna be positive so idk what the opposite of that is
Probably go back to game maker baka
>>62022936
tfw 90% of programming in C is just trying to implement C++ string containers
>>62022936
exactly how i feel. apparently most of learning C is text exercises which is boring but i'll eventually push through it
>>62022965
>gamedev
games are like the worst shit to make because they combine everything you need to know about a language. are you using someone elses engine or trying to write your own
>>62018773
try Go
it's an easier, better version of C
hey OP, don't listen to this nigger
>>62023031
>be C++
>do C
>what is malloc
>what is free
>where are my references
>where's my std
>what do you mean i need to roll my own vectors
>owo whats this segfault
>why does everything leak
>>62023041
yeah. Learn rust instead
>>62023055
hey OP, don't listen to this autist
>>62023055
>>62021319
man i really, really like the cover for K&R. I can't explain or put my finger on exactly what it is, but I just find it insanely aesthetic to look at. It makes me feel good to look at that cover.
Will Rust replace C?
>>62023130
No. Nim will.
>>62023130
Java will replace C
>>62023148
What the fuck is Nim?
>>62021319
If I go through the 1st edition instead, am I fucking myself? Can't find the second edition online.
Dont give up anon !
>>62023115
Reminds me of the old Unix manual days.
>>62023115
I see the aesthetic of a late 80s/early 90s Japanese street bike
>>62023682
the pdf is literally on the first page on google after you search "the c programming language"
>>62023479

>>62023822
Well fuck me sideways.
Thanks
