Let's have a Game Development Thread
Watcha working on /g/?
>>62004520
No.
Also not gonna help you "code" your shitty indie game.
>>62004520
Game dev is a waste of time.
>>62006894
why?
>>62007813
Some indie guy came on here earlier in the week crying about how he only made 14k for a year and that he's basically dead
>>62007838
he actially made money tho
>>62007892
I was making 70k a year as a java monkey doing like 2 hours of actual work a day straight out of college. 14k is a little ridiculous
>>62007892
I'd like a link to the thread.
>he actially made money tho
Probably very little compared to the time put into it. There is the aspect of "creative freedom" which is appealing but you would be homeless if you wanted to live on that.
>>62007908
yeah but he did something he loved. he actually created something and got paid for it.
you're just a java monkey making your boss rich
>>62008259
I don't know, I feel like I'm making myself rich for minimal work too.
>>62008270
>70k
>rich
>>62008350
Sounds pretty rich desu. Not the guy you're responding to, but as a poortuguese dude, 70k would be living the dream.

A flappy birds clone, but furry. Clearing 50 levels unlocks a Doge meme generator, but every image you make ends with "OwO" whether you want it to or not. Also covertly changes your ringtone to foxes yiffing, since no one cares about permissions.
I'm writing my own Visual Novel HTML5 only engine.
>>62009395
people pay for novels?
also big part of game dev is to fucking sell your product and meme it every x days on social networks like plebit (user some accounts to reach front page)
>>62008350
It's enough for solid middle class living after 8% to 401k before taxes
You couldn't have picked a more revolting op image. Well done.

>yeah but he did something he loved. he actually created something and got paid for it.
>actually created something
And corporate development isn't?
>>62009790
Doesn't feel like it. That's my experience anyway. Even on smaller teams it doesn't feel like it because progress is slow due to the infrastructure we struggle with.
released a freeware game about your mom few days ago

that's a shitload of money in my country. If you live in New York, then fuck you, that won't be enough for buying food.
