How does learning algebra help with databases?
>>61984321
I wonder...

Stop being a faggot.
Watch Log Horizon.

You're on the right track.
Keep going, and you'll master databases in no time.
Is there some book/site full of exercises where i can practice sql queries?
All sites i have found really lack in number of exercises

Keep putting data in bases until you can do that with closed eyes.

Udemy or Lynda?
>>61984917
they just teach basic concepts, i want shitload of exercises
>>61984994
I'm taking a 21 hour long course on Udemy. Seems pretty thorough to me.

It's MySQL. If you can get past the guy's cringe humor it's bretty gud.

anything that has any connections with anime can't be good
>>61984917
Hacker Rank has a lot of decent SQL exercises.

To add to this, I also recommend Seven Databases in Seven Weeks and Readings in Database Systems.
You can also hack together CRUD apps with Postgres and Mongo until you get the hang of it.

To get good at databases, it is like anything worth learning and takes lots of time. I studied enterprise information systems at uni and this got me started but was pretty lacking at actually teaching me what to do with databases. (skip this if you can)
Next step make your own, find something you can catalogue and normalise. If you are having trouble thinking of anything look at some crime or health statistics, they are usually good candidates.
Set theory really is your friend if you want to understand how things actually work in relational databases.
I did this and it was enough for me to get an entry level position programming but working closely with data migrations. In 3 months I have learned more than uni and self study combined. Having a good mentor really helped as well as doing it every day.

do you recommend any books?
>>61985789
It's manga, there's no anime.
>>61991394
No sorry. Never really used books

It is the opposite.

Collect enough animu pictures and cute midriffs that you inevitably come over the problem where you have no fucking idea how to organise it. Then it will come to you, in a fury of caffeine, fapping and reading literature on databases
