you use encryption to do any online banking. you're likely using it to browse this site, or countless other popular sites. because encryption does more than protect the big scary evil bad guys. it also protects the average citizen from those bad guys. I don't know about you, but i do not want some chinese government agency stealing my bank account info because we are only allowed to use 'government approved' encryption. either it works against everyone, or it doesn't work against anyone who matters. there is no middle ground
