Which ad-blocker does /g/ use?

Do you turn it off for anyone, and if so, why? If not, why not?
>>
AdNauseam, never turning it off because fuckem
>>
>>61966104

Never heard of that, but that's actually pretty clever. Why hide everything when you can actively revolt against advertisers by clicking everything?
>>
>>61966087
-ublock origin+umatrix+pihole
-never, fuck ads and the malware epilepsy they bring
>>
>>61966087
Does anyone of these work on the latest Firedodge Nightly?
>>
>>61966087
uBlock + Privacy Badger.

I never turn them off.
>>
>>61966087

AdBlock Plus
it just werks, every time
>>
>>61966104
thanks friend
>>
>>61966125

I know, right? It's pretty fucking rad.

Not only do you not see advertisement, but you completely fuck whatever advertisement-profile (((they))) have on you.
>>
Considering there are a few newfags ITT: https://vimeo.com/111943439
>>
>>61966104
Thanks for supporting my website by clicking on the ads

>b-but jokes on you!!! i ruin my search profile!!!
It has literally no effect since so few use it
>>
>>61966477
>>61966419
>>61966104
>>61966412
While I don't live or die on it, isn't this a fundamentally bad idea?

Like, best case scenario you get to stretch your epenis and show the big bad advertisement companies that your statistics are all over the place.

Worst case scenario, you use one hell of a lot of resources on clicking on shit you don't actually care about, and hell, you might even click on something illegal in your country. Like let's for example say you visit a porn site and there's one of those "get a russian wife!" advertisements. Some countries consider that to technically be prostitution or even slavery, right? You might have to explain to a judge how your """radical""" addon works.
>>
>>61966637
It's the same as being a TOR exit node or having your Wifi router free to access for the public. In the end, you didn't do anything again
>>
>>61966087
uBlock Origin because it's most efficient.

>>61966104
This is cancer
>>
>>61966609
The point is that advertisement companies become less credible because so many clicks are fake, thus making people who want to advertise their product seek for different methods. The reason it's ineffective is because faggots like you think the current ad situation is acceptable and refuse to do something against it other than
>muh only hide ads but still load em because i don't wanna hurt da economy
>>
>>61966087

uBlock is the most aggressive one I've used.

That being said, even before uBlock I barely got any advertisements.

I must be the least economically viable person to online. I haven't seen an advertisement in fucking years.

It's gotten to the point where there's so much advertisement all around me, on billboards, posters, logos, products everywhere that the internet has ironically become a advertisement free space for me.

It doesn't matter to me what they're trying to sell me if I can't see the product.
>>
>>61966740
Do ad-sites make money on ads loading though? I'll admit to not knowing much about the topic, but I only thought that MySiteHere.com made money if I actually CLICKED on an advertisement?
>>
>>61966087
I'd just like to interject. uBlock Origin is NOT an "ad blocker": it is a wide-spectrum blocker -- which happens to be able to function as a mere "ad blocker".
>>
Brave.
>>
>>61966835
Yeah I read something about that on their wiki once. What exactly is a "wide-spectrum blocker" anyway? As in how is that not just an ad blocker?
>>
>>61966790
There's a million ways to buy ads. per impression (someone sees the ad), per click, per conversion (someone goes to the advertised site and signs up, buys something, etc) All of them can be modified in various ways (how long was the ad seen for? how much of it was visible? what evidence is there that an actual person was on the other side of the screen and not an ad-fraud bot?)
>>
>>61966858
You're not serious? Does it matter how much of the advertisement is visible? Is that why so many pages tend to plaster their ads at the top of the page? Huh. Learned something new today.
>>
>>61966854
>(((((Brave)))))
>>
Wtf? Adblockers don't load the ads. They examine resource requests, match them to rules, and stop the requests for ads. They aren't loaded and hidden. You save a ton of bandwidth on mobile using an adblocker like uBlock Origin.

inb4 ~ I trold uuuuu~
>>
>>61966857
Easy to add rules for any page content. Block malware domains, remove social media Share This! buttons, and on and on
>>
ublock origin because I want certain sites to get paid

if you use AdBlock plus you're a sociopath
>>
>>61966985
This. I essentially root for this reason alone.
>>
>>61966902
they actually baked a JS API into modern browsers just for doing this, it's called intersection observer.
https://github.com/WICG/IntersectionObserver/blob/gh-pages/explainer.md
>>
>>61966087
Adguard since it handles anti-adblockers perfectly.
Ad Nauseam just doesn't cut it sometimes.
>>
>>61967021
>leaving acceptable ads on
>wanting anyone to get paid
>not going full blackout and go years without (((them))) trying to sell you shit
>being slowly turned into a consumer slave
>>
>>61967029
This is insane. I never knew it whent so deep.
>>
>>61967073

Vilvadi, Ublock Origin and Ublock Protector.

Works fucking great...

Had to use my landlord's laptop a few days ago and holyshit... Poor soul using firefox with no add blocker whatsoever I thought I was going crazy browsing on his trash computer...
>>
>>61968188
>3 blockers at once

Why? uBlock gets it all if configured right.
>>
>>61968745

Wtf...

Vivaldi is a web browser...

Ublock is the addblocker...

Ublock let's you browse websites who do have anti addblockers, and it works.
>>
>>61967800
which adblocker is this?
>>
>>61966087
>Which ad-blocker does /g/ use?
ublock Origin
>Do you turn it off for anyone, and if so, why? If not, why not?
No. They should get a real job.
>>
>>61966087
I turn it for anything hosted on my server in the basement.

use ad-nauseam. it uses ublock origin to block ads but it also pretends to click on ads so that google gets fucked with tons of fake clicks if you want to do damage to these ad companies.
>>
>>61966104
I'm scared of legal repercussions so not using it.

My own hosts file and acrylic are everything I need to block ads, and the botnet
>>
>>61966666
>>
>>61969913
but where do I get the list?
>>
>>61969740
I have AdNauseam already downloaded, how the fuck do I do the script? I know how to open it but there is no START to press.
>>
>>61970167
You can add source hosts from the internet and have a program like hostsman or adaway merge them together into a single hosts

And you can also
>steal the lists umatrix ublock and adnauseum use
>remove special characters and format them into a hosts file
>merge them all into your own hosts
>remove duplicate lines with uniq

Updating them like that takes about an hour or 2 so its not for lazy asses but the results are satisfactory I have over 5 months without seeing an ad
>>
uBlock origin with all filters
>>
>>61966087

I have a pfsense router. Anyone recommend a good way to block all this shit at the router?
>>
>>61966087
Does anyone here use anti-adblock killer? I'd like to use it but that shit breaks so much for no reason.
>>
>>61966087

Ublock Origin and Protector.

Never ever turn it off. Fuck these people.
>>
>>61966104
Anyway to have uBlock Origin run after AdNauseamand block any Ad AdNauseam missed?
>>
>>61970471
pfblocker. Remember that you still need a local hosts file if you're using a VPN, because if you are then your DNS requests will go through the tunnel and pfsense won't see them.
>>
>>61970525
Are you using the Reek script or AAK Cont?
>>
>>61970662
The former. I don't know what AAK cont is, should I use that instead?
>>
>>61966087
Brave. It's the only ad blocking solution that stands with the truth. Gorhill has an off-white son.
>>
>>61970701
What does the race of someone's son have to do with anything in the quality of software?
>>
>>61970701
hahaha what a cvck, fuck sjw code
>>
>>61967012
plus a nice table which shows you what else is going on on that site. like all other shit less actuel content. idiot prove after a shallow learning curve.
>>
>>61969740
>ad nauseam
This meme again. Ad-nauseam may fuck up google's user tracking by clicking on every ad, but you're still giving google vital information about your web surfing habits. Eg: "This faggot clicked every ad on horsedicks.com and spent 1hour there."

Ad Nauseam is literally a clicking bot (malware) and a placebo
>>
>>61970601
AdNauseam uses uBlock Origin internally
>>
>>61970732
But google banned it, but not other ad blockers. Think about that.

Maybe because their TOS prohibits malware.
>>
>>61970732
disinfo shill. advertisers have metrics, such as turn over per click. of course its more effective if more people do it, but it still has a negative effect regardless. it will devalue the ad network provider.
>>
>>61970781
Malware to Google services, exactly as advertised.
>>
>>61970795
Whatever negative effect it has on advertisers can be made up by the meta you freely give them by having a bot click ads. This is still valuable to marketers even if you never saw an ad. If you want to deprive google of value, block ads and scripts when you don't need them. Not everyone who has something to say about your meme is a shill.
>>
>>61970681
Yes. Reek stopped maintaining the AAK script in late 2016, and the AAK Cont version is a continuation of it.
>>
Why are ads being shown on this page with AdNauseam? http://www.abcactionnews.com/news/national/steve-bannon-out-as-white-house-chief-strategist
>>
>>61970795
>Adnauseam gets shilled on /g/ every day
>All the paid shills claim it blocks ads and hurt advertisers
>When all it does is give the advertiser revenue even if the user blocked the ad
Yes Goy! Use Adnauseam, you are seriously hurting us by giving us free money for each blocked ad!

remember that guy?
>>
>>61971076
you are exposing yourself as an inexperienced child, here is what actually happens:
>how many of X have i sold per these clicks/ per money i spent on all these clicks
the more they spend on money with less return the less valuable the advertising network is, and if the numbers are really bad, its just deemed a scam by customers (people who want to advertise their products)
>>
>>61971188
>Implying they care for anything but the number of clicks they get from idiots
>Completely avoids talking about pay per click since he knows /g/ retards wont like to know they are giving free money to the site owner by using adnauseam
How much does adnauseam pays you bro? 1 cent for each shill comment?
>>
>>61966104
>we'll click all the ads so they get all the money
>haha that'll show them

>>61966087
I block everything on every site, no exceptions. Ads should die. If it takes some good sites with it, I can live with that. Ads should be relegated to history. no matter what it takes. I gladly pay a lot for paywall sites each month.
>>
Can someone here snoop on what adnauseam does when it clicks an ad?

I have a feeling it replaces the site referrer with its own in order to make money out of the people who use it

I bet that's why it is getting shilled so damn hard lately

AdNauseam = hides all ads + clicks them to fuck these ad companies.

It's the nuclear option against Jewgle and the rest of the scumbags.

https://github.com/dhowe/AdNauseam
>>
>>61971453
Are there any other pros to Adnauseam compared to uBlock Origin? Apart from the "clicking all ads" thing
Does it have extra features? a more friendly UI? uses less resources?
Is there a point in using this instead of just uBlock Origin if i dont plan on using the "Click all ads" option?
>>
>>61971453
Does this site load an ad for you with ad Nauseam? It does for me.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/06/29/top-10-worst-rewards-in-video-games

Feels like it's letting some through, while uBlock got them all. Not sure if it's my lists.
>>
Once a website delivers its content to me, it has no right to dictate how I render it.
>>
>>61971500
no other benefits. its just uBO + fuck the ad companies option. I'm using it because I hate Google.
>>
>>61971299
The ad network shares stats with the customer.
>oh look we have <gorillion> clicks on our ads
>this is gonna cost us a lot, but we'll also gain a ton of customers since they seem really interested in our shit
>no new customers
>well that ad company sure is shit
or alternatively, this is essentially the end goal
>welp, seems like the days of online advertising are over
>>
>>61966104

That kicks ass. Thanks, I am going to try this.
