whether I'm watching YouTube, or streaming some movie from a random site
I regularly get the following problems
>simply doesn't start
>crashes halfway through for no reason
>crashes if I try to skip to a different section of the video
(even if the part was previously loaded)
why does this stuff still happen?
is this an issue with the video player software itself?
I think it might be, cus YouTube's desktop player crashes quite often,
but only rarely on the app
webms on here crash on both desktop and mobile
"we" haven't fixed it because it's not OUR problem, it's YOUR problem.
/g/ is not your personal tech support. Read the sticky.

OS and software you are using?
hardware?

chill,it might be a fun pajeet.
dude's even failing on watching YouTube
also inb4
>get a decent internet connection
my internet connection is above average,
any online game I join, my ping rarely goes above 25
when a website doesn't crash, it loads very quickly
>upgrade your hardware
my hardware is decent - good
everything else works smoothly (most of the time)
I rarely need videos to buffer, so I don't think that's the issue

Let me guess, Firefox.

I'm not coming here for tech support,
as someone who lacks knowledge of software,
I was wondering why this problem still exists today for a lot of people
besides, the problem generally goes away after a couple F5s

I'm not the only one who experiences this
many of the sites I go to have FAQs dedicated to working around crashing players
I'm just wonder what the cause of this is
a faulty player, bad website infrastructure, what?

no, chrome

Windows 8.1 Pro
16gb ram, 250 ssd
I'm not coming here because it's really an issue for me
I want to know what the cause of it is, because I'd like to potentially create a solution then sell it

use mpv+youtube-dl you dumb fool
>>61950909
There is this virus called System32 that is causing these problems, you should delete it
Gentoo GNU/Linux doesn't have this problem
>>61950779
Audio card or audio drivers
Video card or video drivers
One or more of the four are probably the source of your problem, also uninstall hamachi, avg, and Avast.

I actually see this in Chromium on GNU/Linux, which is pretty entertaining. YouTube won't stream videos at random (and sometimes videos stop working or start working a day later). I don't really care, I use youtube-dl, but it's kind of entertaining that a single company can't make their own video streaming website work on their own browser.
Most likely the video you want to see is stored on a server that isn't immediately available, or it becomes unavailable due to load partway through. Google aren't gods, they still have to store and deliver their content through conventional means and that means less popular videos get lower priority when storing, whereas a popular video might be recreated on multiple servers to respond to high demand

If your shit is crashing it's a hardware issue.
