>He doesn't use a CRT and vertical monitor
>>
>>61943182
>CRT
>24bit color vs 8 bit lcd
>perfect viewing angles
>perfect blacks and colors
>response times 1000x faster than the fastest lcds
>extremely wide range of supported resolutions
> variable refresh rates and overall faster refresh rates
>trinitron displays basically as crisp as a very highend high def LCD
Why would you not use one?
>>
>>61943344
Comfy
>>
pepe.......cool it on the eye drops...

Consumer grade OLED TVs when?
>>
>>61943346
Are Dell CRT's any good like the M782?
>>
>>61943531
Pretty mediocre shadow mask model
>>
I would if they came in 30". Used an 34" xbr960 trinitron as my TV until the convergence issues made me replace it with a Pioneer Kuro. But that CRT from 2007 allowed me to skip LCD entirely because their picture was so shit in comparison.
>>
>>61943182
did crt's ever scale up to around 4k resolution?
>>
>>61943182
I miss my CRT, it was comfy.
>>
>>61943346
Take off those nostalgia goggles brah. Aside from crips blacks, CRTs have nothing over a modern ISP panel.

>ghosting
>shit dot pitch unless you spend hundreds of dollars on a pro monitor
>looses sharpness over time
>warm up periods
>huge fucking bezels
>no height adjustable stands
>VGA only
>90% of monitors sat at 60Hz with a very noticeable flicker
>fucked up screen edges
>needing to adjust vertical, and horizontal stretch every time the resolution changes

I had a 19" Sony monitor that I paid $600 for back in 2000.
Could do 1024x768 @ 120hz. Great for gaming
I had it 1280×1024 @ 75Hz. Looked great.
It could do 1600x1200 but most text was unreadable, and only 60hz. Used it for like 5 years until it started to loose sharpness, and would flicker
Bought my first LCD panel after. I never looked back.
>>
>>61943566
damn..
if I like this thing a lot and its mediocre i gotta find my self a good CRT
>>
>>61943846
I have a sony e500 trinitron right next to a nice IPS led-lcd panel and the crt wins in everyway honestly. I run it at 1600×1200 @85hz. Once adjusted for convergence, it looks perfect. It does not look any less sharp than my LCD and I use it all the time for reading word docs, browsing the web, watching movies, and playing games. CRTs have their shortcomings, but a really nice quality model can't be beat. I am still waiting for the day that something better can replace it for an affordable price.
>>
>>61943531
Get a sony e500, e540, or fw900. Some of the best there is. Just try to find a dell or sony with those specs or better.
>>
>>61943182
>implying there's anything wrong with that
>>
Apart of the FW900 (that doesn't exists in my country) what are the recommended CRT models to look after?
>>
>>61943846
>looses

Also CRTs are great for old games.
>>
Funny you mention it, I just picked up a Sony PVM 1344Q. Its one of the greatest monitors ive got to use. It is replacing my broken PVM 20M2
>>
>>61944005
Mitsubishi Diamond
>>
>>61944008
Fucking this

No matter how good of an upscaler you have, still get AT LEAST a frame of lag (usually much more) on a LCD/LED/Plasma. Not to mention the nice curved glass bubble you get on a CRT.
>>
>>61944057
Ill never forget the time I plugged in a gameboy player into my Samsung LCD and tried to speedrun Metroid. I was slipping all over the place with the input lag.
>>
>>61944057
fuck off gaymen
>>
>>61944081
>gaymen

At least im not some fat 10 year old playing overwatch on their ps4 while complaining on reddit about keyboard and mouse users. And you're damn lying if you say you've never owned a Gameboy/DS and enjoyed it.
>>
I would never willingly use a CRT monitor again. You retards are like hipsters that collect vinyl and only listen to record players.
>>
>>61944145
>I've never used a good CRT so those of you who know what I'm missing out on r dum
>>
>>61943206
>INSTALL!
>>
>>61943182
how dare other people use what they want to
>>
>>61944158
I used CRTs exclusively from 1995 until 2010 because I was a massive poorfag. You could not pay me to use one again.
>>
>>61944192
That doesn't mean you've used good ones, you fucking dumbass.
>>
>tfw want a pvm or bvm so bad
>>
>>61944206
Trinitrons are not good??? That's news to me!

Just admit you're a hipster faggot with nostalgia goggles burned into your face. W
>>
>>61944216
I never said Trinitrons weren't good, I said that repeating that you've used CRTs doesn't mean that you've used good ones.
>>
>>61943182
All my oscilloscopes have a CRT. What of it fag?

I can even display the output from the graphics card on there with x-y mode and the correct input circuitry with the only caveat being the display is 5:4 instead of 16:9.

Bet your 100MHz scope can't run Crysis.
>>
>>61944129
I am 32, I never owned a console in my life.
Well, I got a PS3 for $50 so I could watch netlfix and youtube on my tv.

My friends had Genesis, and SNES, and I played with them, but never owned one.

and never owned a single portable game system

i dont even have games on my phone.

I did play WoW on an off for a few years, and SC. kinda it.

Played Overwatch for 6 months, havnt touched in a year now.

was never into video games. I dont think I even played one till I was like 13, 14.
>>
>>61944235
oh, and I was king fucking shit in WCIII back in 2003.
>>
>There are people on this board now who uses old, deprecated mechanical keyboards thinking that more than 20 years old keyboard is better than new ones
>>
>>61944213
So buy one.
>>
>>61944247
Buckling springs don't really degrade over time. An old one is quite similar to a new one, plus the old ones have better build quality.
>>
>>61944247
There is actually a great deal of older tech that is better than current tech, mainly because back then shit was engineered to last and now it's either engineered as cheaply as possible to keep costs down or engineered to fail so that you have to buy a new one in a relatively short time frame or both.
>>
>>61944213
Are you actually going to use it? Or is it a status symbol to impress your nonexistent turbo-hipster friends?
>>
>>61944254
Older ones are actually lighter, but mostly due to longer use.

I just managed to fix this Grundig 5050 from 1972 and it works pretty well.
What's your excuse now Anon?

god i wish i had a 120hz CRT at 1536x2048
>>
god this thread reeks of 30+ y/o manchild niggers
>>
>>61943223
I remember when I first got a LCD monitor in 2000... I had never seen such a crisp screen with a rock-solid image before that. I was glad to move on from CRTs.
>>
>>61943182
I like CRT because of unmatched contrasts and high refresh rates but your eyes mate.
