hello /g/uys. As we all can see, there's always a war in here between autistic editors like vim and emacs, or

IDEs like CLion and Visual Studio.
I am a C++ dev, I work for a medium company down my area. I was always amazed by those small editors speed but also by the capabilities and ease of use/learn of those big IDEs. I was recently working with Atom. I found it quite handy, although really slow. Then I tried VS Code. Same as Atom, but faster, some things are better, some worse
Now whats your opinion on editors like that? And I would especially like to ask this question from the side of C++ development, cuz those editor are fantastic 4 some stupid JS stuff, but they are lacking f.e Autocomplete for languages like C++

Not a fan of emacs because I had to go through a tutorial to use it, granted I can see why people who use it like it.
Visual Studio is pretty nice, no real gripes with it.
Code is even better, more minimalistic and less features, but it has all the features I need. There are extensions to add the functionality you need for most languages, I'm fairly certain you'll find C++ there.
If it wasn't made in Electron, it'd be even better.

Start using eclipse CDT.
>Built in debugger
>Built in clang-format interface
>Built in linter
>Auto complete
>Automated build system and version control
>Git support
What's not to like?

If you have 8 GB you will be just fine, plus you can edit hotspot memory consumption
>Slow
It isn't
Alternatives: Qt creator.
Using a text editor for old languages don't make sense because the #include and CMake system is retarded

Personally I like

Please reply it took so long to make this :c
never needed more than tmux, vim, gcc and gdb.
wish there was a framebuffer firefox.
Atom would be king if it's core wasnt coded in coffee script. The modules are like crack.

Here are your (You)s.
>>61940912
You are neither OP nor is the font a part of the eclipse CDT
>>61938361
it's fantastic. I've never used it for C++ though (TS, HTML/CSS, Go, Rust, C#) so I don't know about that

Where's the post
>>61940934
You're so sweet <3
>>61940937
>You are neither OP
That only validates his point, whatever it was.
>>61938361
It werks ok for C++. Probably even better if you take the time to find out how to support whole projects.
>>61941023
>his point
yeah nice try

Dead post, responding anyway.
Going through a tutorial for an editor is stupid.
Not gonna spend time doing that, when there is not much to gain.

>Slow
>It isn't
it is very slow
>>61940912
>I don't like your font
>this is what I don't like about Eclipse

>Visual Studio
>Nice
I prefer to not have to spend 50% of my time waiting for Visual Studio to finish some background task that is freezing the whole UI
>>61942365
Never had this issue, what exactly were you doing?
