I had to disable my windows 7 dns client because I installed a huge hosts file
is it ok to disable the default dns client? what are the cons?
>>61930571
I had a bug where disabling it would make my internet drop after 2-12 hours of use and only restarting the computer would fix it. I got tired of that and turned it back on.

at this point it would be a lot more efficient to just run your own DNS server

Unless you are using a Pentium 4 or older crap having a big hosts file wont have any impact on performance
>>61931063
fine disable your dns lookup service then and deal with the bugs, faggot

thank me later retards
TL;DR no disavantage of disabling DNS client in services.msc?
>snoozed and loosed, didn't upgrade to the far superior windows 10 during the free upgrade period
>too dumb to just use ublock origin instead of manually updating a host file every day like a caveman

I use DNSCrypt but the problem is not only privacy but also malware and tracking if you use windows.

First off, you're illiterate, as expected of a Windows 10 consumer. The word you're looking for is lost.
More importantly, I did take the free downgrade. I used it for six months and returned to the objectively superior Windows 7 with no regrets. Get fucked.
>ublock origin
Only works in a web browser. Good luck installing uBlock on the built in Steam browser.

I use OpenDNS on my router and hosts file /drivers/etc
it's better this way
