I'm in a predicament, I have a new Ryzen 7 system but an old, and to an extent, unstable R7 260X
I'm an AMD fan who was waiting for Vega, I have a freesync monitor, but Vega 64 is way over powered literally and out of my price range anyways
I am kind of fed up, I only want to play TF2, Overwatch, CIV VI, and DOTA so I don't need something high end. I'm about to just blow $295 on a GTX 1060 now, but Vega 56 is 2 weeks away but $100 more
The entire RX line that has any performance is more expensive than the 1060
Should I shoot for a 1060 now, save $99, or wait for Vega 56, spend $99 more for more performance and freesync
additionally I am having a hard time pulling the trigger on the 1060 cause I really don't like nvidia as a company, but this 260X is not working out in both gaming and in just general day to day stability

>I'm in a predicament,
No you're not. Just kys you dumb fucking gaymer retard.
Get the 1060.
The 56 is decent, but miners are buying them.
>>61913180
I'm kind of just thinking I could resell this 1060 later for an AIB Vega 56
I guarantee you that you'll be able to find 1060s (with a 15-20% mark up) much easier than you would any other mid-level GPU. Maybe there's a flood of Vega 56s ready to hit the streets, but I have a feeling that they're going to be very hard to come by. So for sake of ease, 1060.
Also given that lineup of games, you don't need a Vega. Honestly. And if you decide to splurge, do yourself a favor and wait for partner cards.
Might be worth mentioning that some of the numbers on Vega's power draw might be inflated or works in progress, but I don't think anyone would disagree that the 1060 is going to be far less power hungry.

>>61913220
welp I didn't think this day would come when I would actually buy an nvidia card
I feel dirty
>>61913275
>anus
You better cancel that order.
>>61913305
Why?
whatever, I did and got MSI instead, I prefer MSI over ASUS GPUs anyways
>>61913170
I'd get the 1060. I saw a few threads mentioning Vega 56 slower than 1060 AIO OC cards.

>>61913170
300 burgershekels for a 1060 is insane, way too overpriced
Get a Vega 56 before miners get them
>>61914680
Vega 56 outperforms the 1070 by a decent amount
>>61915791
Yeah but it's $99 less
again, I'm only playing Overwatch and CIv VI basically
worth $99 for more performance and a card that will probably be a bit loud?
>>61915801
my impression is that it's about 10% faster. that sort of performance difference is negligible if you're upgrading from an old video card
>>61915822
I mean also freesync, which I do have the monitor for, but idk
I may be pulling the trigger too early
>>61913170
>unstable R7 260x
Let me guess.. random 100ÂșC temps and poor performance?
>>61915853
no, it runs pretty cool and well for a 260x
It's just not a good performing card in general and it's like 4 years old now and even new it had stability issues
Seriously I found out after 5 years that AMd Sucks gfx wise. Crossfire 6950 to r9 390. I hate having such a lame performing product. I had the same issue with apple products. A lot under the hood but never really put to use. All this wait wait wait it's not worth it.

>tfw all my desktops are Intel+AMD or AMD+nVidia
>>61916030
cause graphic stuff is all about the software to run it on
AMD and ATi cards are almost always better hardware
but nvidia has better software
why you see AMD pull ahead in synthetic stuff
for me, I don't really care about getting the absolute high end so it's never been a problem
had a Radeon HD 4850, R9 280X, R7 260X
>>61916089
Very true. Hardware is specs is a big lure to buyers. I fall for it all the time but in practice it's a whole different story.
>>61913170
> 1060
> Vega 56
Vega 56. Or 1070.
>>61915825
As you will see once overclocking reviews of Vega 56 come out, if you OC Vega 56's memory to ~945mhz it will pretty much tie Vega 64 Air in every benchmark. Thatmeans it will easily trade blows with a 1080 FE, and is well past 1070 performance.
>>61916165
>I fall for it all the time but in practice it's a whole different story.
Vega is very good for compute tasks.
get vega 56
>>61916312
Don't kid your self. Paying a premium this day in age to watch a task bar move quicker is not why I would buy a gfx card.
>>61913170
>tf2
>overwatch
>dota
just buy a 1050ti and call it a day
>>61916517
Don't kid your self. Paying a premium this day in age to watch an FPS counter stay higher is not why I would buy a gfx card.
>>61916312
Not just compute. Vega is also very good at geometry when not bandwidth bottlenecked.
>>61913352
>MSI
You should cancel desu...
im in a worse situation i got a oldass i5 4690 system AND a 390x
it all works fine its just slow in newer games like PUBG and shit
Thinking of a staggered upgrade to a 1800 and a vega 64
OP is a fucking retard, can't wait just a little bit to spend an extra 100 dollars, and wasted about that much by not being able to use freesync. Kys I hope you never reproduce.
>>61913170
>Anime
Hi
Go to hell
>>61916691
get a 1700 or 1700x same chip, similar game performance, same performance on OC
>>61916730
I cancelled my 1060 order, but paying $100 more is still paying $100 more. calm yourself
>>61916783
there's a AMD mascot's anime now?
>>61916828
in Japan, it has for a while
>>61916824
im just waiting for a aftermarket vega 64
if i get a high clocker i could get near 1080 oc 1080ti stock levels if i water cool it
>>61915822
If that's all you play just get an rx 460, they aren't sold out mostly because miners don't buy them as much, try and get a 2gb vram one for a 100 bucks or maybe 110, that should do you well until miners stop fucking everything up.
$300 for a 1060 is borderline criminal, you're overspending 100 bucks.
