If you're dropping your PC off a fucking cliff that's the only reason why that's "superior design."
>>

Why do ThinkPad niggers think they're some sort of gods on earth when they're simply poor fags, running around with a desktop.
>>
>>61912730
Not him but thicker body allows more airflow and more powerful components. If that's not the definition of superior design then nothing is. It never mattered how thin a laptop is.

>>
>>61912827
Tell me how the size and weight of a Thinkpad prevents it from being portable. It already passed the line of being portable, anything thinner than that is not making a difference at this point. Unless of course we are talking about carrying 20 of them at the same time, but even they would be easily carried on top of the goalpost net.

my brother bought a gaming laptop because he does a lot of VR and likes to show it to other people. A gaming laptop works better for this vs a desktop.

Asus ROG Laptop: 41.0cm x 31.8cm x 1.7-5.0cm, 4.5Kg (8-cell battery)

Thinkpad T60p
Width: 329 mm (13.0 in) to 334 mm (13.2 in)
Depth: 268 mm (10.6 in)
Height: 31 to 36 mm (1.2 to 1.4 in)
Configured system weight:
With travel bezel: 2.54 kg (5.6 lb)

Also you need to be over 18 to post here man.
>>
>>61910240
Bravo and good luck to you sir.

I for one would not chose to "game" using a laptop but if that is your bag then kudos.

And what a laptop it is! Truly a sight to behold.

Well done.
>>
>>61913259
More like a sedan and half an inch longer sedan.
>>
>>61912763
Whoa whoa...

Thicker body means nothing if there aren't channels properly designed to mitigate thermal saturation. The GS63VR is a perfect example of this, it mitigates thermal homeostasis in the chassis by actively pulling ambient air in and expelling hot air out and so it's capable of running at spectacular temperatures while being razor thin. More impressively it has a full GPU while running incredibly quietly during low intensity operation, perhaps even passively.
>>
>>61913293
You're missing the point, son. Why don't you drive a Hummer or a tank? Why not a dumptruck? Those are all more powerful than a sedan. Why do people drive sedans and not air liners?
>>
>>61910240

>>

>>
A gaming laptop, you get about 2 to 3 years out of it before the battery just fucking fails. Now you have a clunky weight inside if you are unlucky enough to get one that you can't swap the batteries out (which is more and more common)

You build a gaming desktop, bam 5-10 years for a far more cost effective system. If you spec it out, you can even get a surplus Thinkpad for on the go multitasking.

Beyond that Gaming laptops are great if you're into LAN parties, but we're quickly seeing portable console gaming come into play.

>>61913317
Battery lasts two hours in that thing, speakers are fucking trash, display is shit. It uses subpar components to shave costs.

>>61913320
I'll take a sedan when I go out driving, but if I'm going to go out working I"ll take the dumptruck.
>>
>>61913342
The display is fine, who uses a laptop without a charger, and who doesn't use headphones with a laptop? Who uses a laptop for two hours on battery, even? Also I bet I could pump 3.5h on it easy.

>who uses a laptop without a charger
People who need to work portably.

Like in college I have my laptop on my desk, I'm in class for about 4-6 hours a day. 2 hours isn't gonna cut it.

>who doesn't use headphones with a laptop?
People who don't have headphones
>>
>>61913342
Ah, so you'd drive a dumptruck to meetings? Or you'd courier parcels with a dumptruck? Do dumptruck do a good job of towing vehicles? Dumptrucks are only good at one thing, you know. I guess you have no idea what the concept of utility is. An object can have utility in more than one way, and it's utility is relative to the job you're trying to do. For lots of people, the average laptop lasts a full day on battery and is fast enough to do all their daily tasks. After that, the main concern is size and weight.
>>
>>61913320
>sedan vs. tank is the same as Thinkpad vs. Apple
There are portable computers that are three times thicker than a Thinkpad so extremes are a wrong way to look at this. What you should be asking is why people drive 5 seat compact cars and not only mopeds.
>>
>>61913402
>Ah, so you'd drive a dumptruck to meetings?
No I'd drive it to the quarry where I work. I wouldn't take a sedan there.

>Or you'd courier parcels with a dumptruck?
I wouldn't take a sedan to courier parcels either.

>Do dumptruck do a good job of towing vehicles?
No that's why tow trucks exist.

>Dumptrucks are only good at one thing, you know.
Why did you undermine your entire "argument" with that one statement.

>I guess you have no idea what the concept of utility is
I guess it's just shitty bait.

For lots of people, the average laptop lasts a full day on battery and is fast enough to do all their daily tasks. After that, the main concern is size and weight.
So the Thinkpad wins in all departments as that, as the T60p is factually lighter and smaller then OP's gamer laptop

But Baka, it isn't always about spec, it's about price to performance.

Gaming laptops have no place where a PC would be cheaper and sometimes better, case in point: https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/NBKMSI26152/MSI-Titan-SLI-GT83VR-7RF-Extream-Dual-GTX1080-Gami

op here computer was less than 700 bucks you're not building a much better desktop for 679 dollars

>Dropping your PC off a fucking cliff
I actually have to fucking use my laptop and not screw around in a fucking clean room. And a fucking thinkpad does the fucking job, an asus fucking exploded on me, other desintegrated, sony dissolved into plastic soup, normal lenovo snapped in a fucking half... And a fucking thinkpad only got an edge scratched with my workflow of working outside a lot.

ITT: If you're buying a laptop cause you're too lazy of a fuck to build a decent gaming PC, and need to masturbate in bed, then maybe those gaaamur shit will do, but real fucking men with chest hair need their thinkpads to do some fucking work outside, where mud, air, and crazy bitches are.

I used an Asus G71GX in college as a replacement for my dell desktop that had an AGP Radeon 9250 and a Pentium 4. I stopped carrying the laptop to school after freshman year. 12 pounds was too much. Also, it looked like gayman puke and the battery lasted 1 hour. Screen was shit and is barely visible in bright indoor light now. Keyboard died in it's third year when my cat spilled coffee on it. RIP in peace, little bro. HDMI port stopped working in its fourth year. The plastic wore out poorly and started coming apart at the seams with regular use. Expect similar shit to happen with yours, more so if you actually carry it daily.

The $200 X61T I bought was way more useful for mobile computing.

Funny you say that, I have an acer v5-573G and I have literally fist hammered its keyboard several times to the point there are 2 visible dents on it.
I have also smacked the screen against the keyboard countless times and spilled soda.
Out of frustration I've also pressed on the keyboard so hard, it's rubbed against the HDD and induced mechanical faults.
I replaced it with an SSD and everything is fine now.
So yeah best purchase 10/10, stop hating acer.

Hi, that's cool.

No one really cares. Your life is an existential blip across the infinite universe. It's honestly a miracle that we humans are alive right now, but across the whole entirety of time and space. We really don't matter. You don't matter. I don't matter.

So in your unimportant life, the same as mine, what have you done that's important to you?

You posted about your laptop. That's great. What have I done? I'm replying to your post because I'm bored. That's great too.

I hope you enjoyed wasting your time as much as I wasted my own.

>>
>>61916872
Not really, it was gnu and windows being shitty OSs where things crash in the most mathematically improbable and uncomfortable time.
>>
>>61916808
It is, but it ends. Time and space are no exception to the end as well so I treat it as if it were living. I will say this though. Humanity is a miracle. While we live such short lives in comparison to the universe, we burn brighter than any other star out there because we have so little time. Sure, our lives are merely an existential and evolutionary blip and doesn't really matter much in comparison to anything else out there now (other lifeforms may exist!) and to come (humanity could be supplanted by another organism!). However, I believe that just being alive and having a choice to do something in this very short life is still amazing even if I am wasting my time away doing nothing.
