my phone is on 24/7 and i run fuck huge batteries, 7800 mah or 9800 mah are my main batteries with a 6000 and a ton of 3000's if i need to go sleek. i keep 2 fast chargers, 1 20,000 mah power brick in the car, and another 20,000 mah power brick for backup.

i also leave my phone plugged in when i'm asleep.

i can't remember the last time i had a dead battery.

Why would I answer the phone in the dead of night? I'm sleeping, if anyone wants to call me, they can do so in a civilized time after 8 in the morning, when I'm already awake and showered.
Tbqh my do not disturb mode kicks in even sooner, at 20:00.

I don't know about battery life extension, but I've gotten better than 3 years of good performance out of all the smart phones I've had, & I've always turned ALL of my phones off when I crash. It seems like most people get less than two.

Shame I didn't take a screenshot of my battery usage last week. I was on vacation and I got about 6 hours of SoT, dropped the battery to about ~50%, and before I charged my phone 5 days later, I had ~43% left.

Screenshot is the best I can give you. The flat line is an ~8 hour window.
