The fast this is to delete files
Then overwrite the entire disk with /dev/null
Then do the dban or overwrite with /dev/random
If at some point you run out of time, you have at least done the first parts.
>>
>>61896039
Throw it in a smelter.

Throw it in the trash

Use bleachbit, it's like cleaning your computer with a cloth or something.
It's also GNU.
>>
If i was you i would just smash it with a hammer and flush it down the toilet drain
>>
>>61896086
they can cut it out when it's still in stomach
>>
Thermite
>>
why do you need to wipe your drive in such a hurry?
>>
>>61896355
Sound it out. They meant to type fastest.
>>
>>61896039
Why are you in a hurry, OP? What did you do?
>>
>>61896039
this is why you encrypt
erase master key > all data permanently inaccessible
takes a split second to /effectively/ erase an encrypted volume
>>
MAGNETS
HOW DO THEY WORK
>>
If you have real sensitive information you need to destroy, you need to physically destroy the harddisk. It's quicker and guarantees that data recovery is impossible.
>>
>>61896559
Against you when the people trying to access your data are willing to spend the resources.

could do this

only if the platters are smashed small enough

Won't be long before state actors have access to the necessary computing power to make short work of your encryption

Pour excess conc. sulfuric acid on it.

>he doesn't have a high-power blender
Here's how it should go:
>hear the van coming
>toss your HDD in the blender with some ice, bananas, protein powder, whatever you like in a shake
>while it's blending you swap in the Win10 HDD you have prepared with Steam and games, as well as Chrome with a history full of porn
>boot your computer up
>start playing some vidya and enjoying your shake
>>
>>61896601
lmao even one false attempt destroys the data

I said a high-power blender, it'll be powder mixed with liquid so it's fine. Not the healthiest, but they'll never even think of it.

>>61896829
Looking online, you're gonna spend 700 bucks on that kind of blender. Why not just make thermite for a fraction of the cost, or a smelter for less than 100 bucks?

I can also do that with a 10 dollar blender.

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdb bs=64K && sync

replace /dev/sdb with whatever drive you want to wipe. Note that it's /dev/sdb, not /dev/sdb1. Yes, overwriting with zeros is plenty to stop even well-funded miscreants from reading your drive, you don't need a 35-pass wipe with meme patterns.

Does storage devices have HWIDs not unlike MAC addresses? If so: wouldn't one be able to spoof it?
If so:
1. get two identical storage devices. Spoof the real harddrive HWID to equal the fake harddrive HWID.
2. wget all cheeze
3. get fbi on ur ass
4. replace real harddrive with fake one
(5.) have an os equiv with normie stuff on the fake harddrive, to arouse any suspicion of interfering with an investigation

so yesteryear. Nowadays hipsters press their juice.

I wonder what would happen if someone put a bag condom on a harddisk and press it.

Jesus.

Every person fucking up using dban when you can just load up GNU shred and do a quick random pass and use the GUI to find the right device and feel confident.

Physically destroy the device. There are many ways to do it, just google it. If you care that much about the secrecy of your data, thats what you will have to do.

>sudo shred -v /dev/sdX
will overwrite with 3 passes making it impossible to recover
>sudo shred -n 1 -v /dev/sdX
will only overwrite it 1 time and will take less time, still probably impossible to recover but depends how autistic you are about what you are trying to delete.
>>
>>61896095
>overwrite with /dev/null
wow great fucking idea buddo you must be a Linux sysadmin or something
>>
>>61896039
what type of hard-drive is it? if it's a laptop drive, the platters will be very weak and shatter-able. microwave em' and turn the fuckers to dust.

otherwise, if it's a full-size, microwave then use metal snips to cut the plates up, then toss the shards somewhere.
>>
smash it. bury pieces in random locations in your backyard
>>
>>61908194
also, forgot to mention that sanding the platters works very well. though, don't use just one of these methods, use at least two combined and you will be fine.
>>
Install Debian will full disk encryption and then overwrite the first couple of bytes (or is it bits?) will /dev/urandom to erase the luks header.
