Why doesn't /g/ ever mention this distro? Is it botnet? Are there security/privacy issues? I want to know why it's never talked about or recommended. Thinking about switching from Gentoo.

too popular

You're not fooling anybody, sweaty.

Install Gen-
Stay on Gentoo Martha

Yes, they've been hacked twice.
Besides, Mint is the only distro to have THREE update options, and only ONE of them is "don't break my system". This is ridiculous.

It's just a shitter, (much more) amateur version of Ubuntu with a ton of bloatware and Firefox toolbars installed by default. It comes with like actually 300 systemd daemons that lag out old machines too.
No point in Mint, stay away.
So basically, the faggots here on /g/ don't like Mint because it's popular? Popular for a reason maybe?
>inb4 windows is popular too though

It's a popular distro because it's easy.
At least some of /g/ knows how to use a computer and chooses distros with less flaws.
It's Ubuntu tier. Might be good for introducing noobs to linux, but that's about it, and even then, there are better options.

Like what for example? I've tried over 10 different distros. They all seem the same. It's like /g/'s equivalent of hipsters arguing about craft beer for fucks sake.

It is worse than Ubuntu.

It's not about looks, it's about using a distro for a couple of years.
> Ubuntu can hardly update between even LTS releases, will throw errors after update
> CentOS can't be updated to a new release at all
> Debian offers old af packages in its own repos
> Arch, Gentoo, etc: lightweight but time consuming
They will look the same because they all use the same DEs except Ubuntu (but they've switched to Gnome too).

It's a meme distro.
There are only a handful of *real* distributions.
>Ubuntu
>Fedora
>RHEL
>Android
Debian used to be a real distro but there's no reason for you to use it today unless you are an Ubuntu dev.
