I have a VPS, but if all you want is a web server the pi zero is probably fine. Or you could design your own ISA and build a CPU, make an OS for it, and write an HTTP server.

It depends on the number of visitors you are planning to get, along with what the website does...

if it's going to be a small website for controlling stuff or sharing stuff with your friends, the rpi will be good enough...

however if the website is going to cater to more than ~500-1000 people a day or you need to host/stream video content, i'd get something bigger for the task.

Just make sure to buy a computer with a real-time clock module, or make sure that it syncs often with NTP servers if you plan to have some decent security (https) for logins and such.
