is this good enough machine for php js webdev? i like its small n shit
>>
>>61870266
That is only good for the most basic normie tier shit.
>>
>>61870293
yeah well i would use it for browsing and webdev and some light photoshop and sometimes for watching movies, thats all. no gaming
>>
Depends on the model
>>
>>61870380
ah yes, i was thinking of something with a i5 cpu + 8gb ddr4 + ssd. thoughts?

right now i have an old pc running a budget amd duocore from 2011.
>>
I bought a NUC a few years ago, one of the dual core i5 units, I upgraded it to 16 GB of RAM and I use it as a shitposting machine mostly and for RDP

I figured it would be enough but it's barely able to run a browser with plugins without the fan going bonkers

I'd go for something with a full desktop CPU and proper cooling. Or at least proper cooling, which the NUC doesn't have

Might have been alright for running a display kiosk in a mall or a security camera network, I dunno
>>
>>61870438
What's the budget?
>>
>>61870503
something between 300 and 400. i already have a good ssd drive
>>
>>61870460
Perhaps the newer models are better, maybe even fanless
>>
doesn't have to be a nuc btw but yeah something small and as little noise as possible
>>
NUCs are great. I've got two in my low-power homelab, and I also set my aunt up with one as a desktop.
If you don't need a graphics card then go for it.
>>
Go for it. I've been using an Ivy Bridge one as a router since forever, and a Haswell one more recently for general use.
As long as you're fine with laptop speed, they're pretty great. Tiny and reliable.
>>
>>61871216
We talking about nucs or white guys?
>>
would buy an asrock desk mini 110
for cpu i would go with the new pentium or i3, ram 8gigs and then your ssd.
cheaper than the nuc but also small and low power.

Would a NUC be good enough to run shit like minecraft, gmod and sims 4?
For my little sister
>>
>>61871717
Minecraft probably. Fan would go bonkers Probably be better off custom building a machine as a NUC is designed just to be an office workstation
>>
Its basically a laptop without all the features of a laptop.
>>
>>61871816
Yes
