You're more likely to have formaldehyde in traditional wooden desks than the IKEA ones that you posted because IKEA adheres to strict regulation and follows the California standard, even in countries with lax regulations.

If you got free time, go to a lumberyard, get some rough hardwood.
Then visit a workshop and joint/plane it. Now you have perfectly square wood that just needs to join together (glue) and fasten unto your frame.

I got this desk. It's solid as fuck. Obviously, it's particle board with polyethylene veneer. At the sub $200 price point I don't think anything comes near. To get something on Ikea that looks similar is roughly $300-$400 shipped.
