I thought about doing that, but 2G is going extinct and carriers are starting to cut back on 3G coverage to expand 4G.

My backup phone is a $20 GoPhone (Alcatel Ideal) that's been unlocked. Sure it's a shit but it's amazingly competent considering the price. 1.1 GHz quad core, 1 GB RAM, runs Lollipop, has a headphone jack and MicroSD slot. It had 4 GB usable space but I've managed to delete junkware from /system and repartition to get nearly 6 GB.
