I got a X220 tablet version (2.80GHz 4GB 320GB HDD for 220USD). It was advertised as Win7 came with Win10, I've already tried backup/restore/factory reset to no avail. I bought the machine mostly so I could have something decent to draw on, so I would like to have a Win machine so I don't have try to run Photoshop through Wine or learn some unfamiliar program. But more than that, whenever I try to lay the screen flat on top the keyboard, the pen starts acting funky(it doesn't want to click when I tap it down, or randomly right clicks). It doesn't have that issue when the screen is slightly tilted though.

Is the pen issue some something hardware or could it be possibly fixed if I got a different OS? Or should I just return it?

Finally got around to cleaning out my x230, redoing the thermal paste and replacing the noisy fan. Temps are down by 10C and it's much quieter, so that's nice. Had to take it apart again and reseat the keyboard cable though because neither the touchpad or the trackpoint worked the first time.

Fuck, /g/, I want to buy a thinkpad for comfy programming but I can't decide between x230 and t420. x230 has a better display, cpu and gpu but afaik less ports and worse resolution. What do? I want to use this laptop in uni as well.

you know, what I don't understand about post 30 series models is that they removed the dedicated volume buttons to make the gap between keyboard and screen smaller to allow for a larger palmrest, but they don't just put them on those fuck huge side bezels. if there's enough space for the on/off switch, there should be enough space for 2 more buttons. or possibly 2 on one side for volume and 2 on the other side for brightness. this is not even about 6 rows vs 7 rows. they wouldn't need an additional row to get some more dedicated buttons in there.

I get why they wanted to make the palmrest bigger and make the whole thing look more modern (though I don't agree with it) but come on lenovo...

The black button used to be blue on older models. It's the ThinkVantage button. It is used to open Lenovo support and on old models it was also used to access BIOS
You can't really use it though because as far as I know you need to have a company contract with Lenovo to get the business level support
