and I'm interested if you can suggest me a distro and a DE that just works with this hardware + dock. I can already exclude Fedora 26 Gnome (issues with nm-applet) and XFCE, in general, (saving the screen preferences knows issue). I'm interested in OpenSuse/Debian but would prefer to check if you are running any of those as a daily driver.

Try the latest Plasma releases then shitpost. This machine can handle Plasma perfectly fine.

You've never seen a girl with an ass if you think that that's an ass.

Currently downloading Manjaro KDE and if that fails I'll move on to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS with Unity and get on with my day.

Also, cmon, Meg's ass is pretty fine

I use Debian stable. It has worked amazing for as long as I've had this machine. Remember to get the nonfree installation image if you want to do a netinstall and get the network running.
Currently I'm running the new stable, Stretch, and have had zero problems with the hardware, also great battery life. Never experienced it run out of batter, though do not i have a charger in my office at work so I charge it everytime I go back there.
Seemingly you do not have the Quadro in yours, but if you or anyone else for that matter do, bumblebee works very easily after installation.

>>61854327
To elaborate, get the non-free image if you want wi-fi working OOB.
Also harware-wise you had to configure the trackpoint scoll manually in 8 (or 7 if my memory is bad), but in 9 it works perfectly OOB.

Meg Turney. Search for 'Me at my place'.

Thank you for the proper answer. What DE are you running and are you having any issues while using dock? Esp. after suspend/reboot?
>>
>>61854447
I'm using gnome with quite a few plugins and one component compiled myself due to a feature i didn't like, however unrelated to how it works with the hardware.
Regarding suspend I've not really done this, with my dock as my monitors are positioned in eye-height so I always keep the laptop open.
The reboots I have done have not been problematic however.
I could test more specifically, but not tonight. Tonight is drunk night. Tell you what, if you want me to do some specific tests for you, like whatever sort of situation you suspect could be problematic, email me at [email protected]
throwaway email, i'll reply with my real one, just don't want these faggits to sign me up for pornhub and whatnot
>>
>>61854589
I'll go with Debian Gnome. Thanks for all the information anon and I won't bother you further via email.

I hope you'll have a great drunk night!
>>
>>61854823
Thank you, I'm sure I will, although if you have any questions it won't bother me if you ask me about it. I've been running this setup for a while so I'm just happy to help others using the same.
>>
>>61854936
On that note I will keep the email alias until it either becomes a problem or i clean up my /etc/aliases, so it's not any type of a hurry
>>
>>61855066
Sure, I'll be working on this tomorrow when I come from work so I'll email you if I get stuck or need an advice.
>>
>>61855276
Sure thing pal, tomorrow I will be sufficiently sober as well
