What language does /g/ code in?
>>
php 7.2

C, C++, Python and more if I have to.

php a little bit

rust

everything js, php and a bit of python
>>
>>61848467
Haskell, OCaml, C#, C in that order.
Java, Ruby, Lua if I have to.
Could also mention Prolog, but somehow I doubt I'll ever have to code in it.

Jai
>>
js, c# mostly, and know a bit of other languages like python and Ruby but I don't do a lot with them

c#, arduino(c), pyhton(rpi) for personal projects
javascript for browser automation(tampermonkey)
mainly java, but whatever they ask me for work
>>

C (uni)
C++ (work, Arduino)
C# (all my random shit)

I use C# as my defacto, I even got a Netduino...

btw, I use mcs on linux
>>
>>61848479
My nigga. People shit on me for having a PHP job, I am probably equally proficient in C, C++, Java and maybe C# although it's my least favorite. But my job is PHP, and it makes some serious bucks when you're really, really good.
>>
>>61848467
Haskell

HTML, JS, CSS, PHP, SQL. Will try Python in the future

Currently Scala. My ideal job would be in assembly though.

I'm learning Java, /g/ said my first language shouldn't be C++. Are there any good books I could buy for either?

Don't know much about java, but for C++ I like Accelerated C++
>>
Mostly converting Python/C to bash scripts. No real reason, but I do see a significant performance boost when porting from Python to bash, and barely any difference from C. Occasionally PHP.

Plenty of JS and PHP.

Easiest to find work in.
>>
>>61848467
I don't "code" you nigger, I write programs. There's nothing encoded about a good program.

As for language, I use whatever I have to, but given the choice I always prefer languages that make good organization easy (so not javascript).

Sounds like you are.

Do i have a future, guys ?
>>
>>61850194
Since you clearly have no idea what good organization is, I'll just tell you to go back to "coding in JS"
>>
x86 Assembly

He means that he copies and pastes examples without understanding them
>>
>>61850127
To be honest I only use pascal as a teaching tool. I have to tech college kids that are studying civil or industrial engineering the basic thought process for programming so the program was build with that in mind and Pascal is one of the easiest ways of learning how to code and apply flow chart thought process.

In reality this kids will only need to learn excel and nothing more but they will do so in other class so in here we basically just teach them pseudo code and basic coding like Pascal.
>>
>>61850332
Why would anyone brag about that?
>>
>>61850341
I thought I picked up Pascal so easily because I was extra motivated in High School before I took APCS and got a really shitty teacher who soured me on programming which is why I couldn't pick up Java even when I went to university and gave it another try in an intro programming course.

I guess I'm just a brainlet that needs babby programming languages.

If I may ask, what about Pascal makes it easy to learn/teach with?
>>
At work: C++, Python, SQL
Privately: Rust

I also know C and C#, don't use them much.
>>
>>61850345
Beats me. Apparently, he thinks not understanding his tools and doing shitty work is better than "being a smoothbrain", but maybe he can copy a better explanation off of google.
>>
>>61848467
Python and C at work. Privately I use pretty much anything. Lately C# and Python.
>>
>>61848467
English
>>
>>61850364
To be honest no idea, I know that the program had C and C+ before but changed to Pascal and kids started to pick it up better than they did C despite being basically the same for their level "Write this" "pick this data" "Perform this operation" etc etc.

So no idea but for some reason shit is easier to get into than other forms.
>>
>>61850364
If I were to teach programming, I'd probably spend the first days or weeks covering assembly. Creating loops with goto, saving stuff into memory, putting stuff into stack, calling a function with them. It's all so simple that a total brainlet should understand it. Most importantly, it would very clearly demonstrate how loops work and how stuff gets done with them. And loops are likely the most important aspect of programming.

I think linguists liked it at some point, dunno if anybody uses it now though. I've recently seen some nice Prolog-like language with static typing and stuff, dunno how useful it is.
https://www.mercurylang.org

Also, I'm in colleague, so no, I don't use FP professionally. I use it whenever I can choose the language though.

There is even more demand
Math (or probably more stats) skills: depends. If you want to be a data analyst / data engineer you won't

If you want to do anything beyond simple descriptive analytics, yes
SQL you will almost definitely need
>>
>>61856536
So do they prefer hiring math majors for higher level positions?
Any other skill than Python, SQL and R needed?
