I'm feeling like getting a comfy old dumb phone and making it as capable as possible, sans the iOS/Android/Microsoft Softwear jewery. Is this stupid? Will i regret it after dropping ~$50 on it and trying to find a few useful apps that were all dropped back in 2011? Or does /g/ have a online coven of resources to make it usable without leaking all my personal data to google or apple?
Pic related, the one i got my eye on(I miss having a sexy sleek phone that can fit in my coin pocket).

Eh, its too boring/conventional.
Sliders were only really a thing from 2007-2009. Flip phones feel like they're all gitterbugs now a days. I'm not an old senile normee...
bump.
has no one here done that yet?

Done what? Bought something out of nostalgia?
If you want to buy it just as a tech piece go ahead. You probably won't use it but who cares.
If you actually want to use a dumbphone and not just look at it and masturbate time to time, i suggest ssung Galaxy folder. Its a flip phone with android in it. Looks sleek af.
Also last month i bought this from ali express becuase i love flip phones and cant afford galaxy folder. Its a dumb phone but looks cool as fuck.

But id want to actually use it. I knwo theres a few java apps, back in 2012, that allowed it to interface with youtube, and facebook, and whatever... I'm not actually interested in any of the social media(though watching youtube videos, at 240p on its screen, would be okay) but if there are cool java apps around that would add functionality Id like to know about them, if only to make the transition a bit easier.
