this is driving me nuts. i changed the thermal paste for the 3rd time now
first with cheap paste now the arctic mx2
the cpu starts with 50° when i boot up now it's at 67° i used 72% alc to clean it precisely
is this normal for notebooks/ ultrabooks ?
>dell xps 14 ultrabook
sidenote : i bought this few months ago 2nd hand it was very clean...ordered a geniuine dell battery few weeks ago.... im not using notebooks often but for university sometimes
and i tought that if i own a notebook it should look fucking cool atleast and with good decent hardware
what should i do now ?
>XPS 14
This does not exist

you mix them with the new xps series 13,15
the 14 is the older one

It doesn't matter unless its in critical territory. Something like 110c or someshit.

so lets say 80° is totally normal on notebooks ?
nice quads !

Check the exhaust port on your heatpipe. Sometimes fine dust and shit gathers on the inside of the fan on the exhaust fins, and you can't see it immediately. Remove the exhaust fan assembly, and violently blow in from the outside. See if fluff comes out.
The only other thing (and I recommend you check this first) is open task manager, and see what app is eating your CPU. Sometimes malware or a shit app will keep your CPU running at 30 to 50% all the time. That would be the culprit causing the high temp.
Good luck.
Ps. Recently pasted my T460 with MX2 as well. Shit is pretty decent.

Also:
Boot into a diffrent OS and see if the temps are simmilar
That might be an easier way to check if it's a hardware or software issue
Also are you over clocking?

exhaust fins are pretty clean and the fan itself too but i will take the fan off and give it a strong blowjob lol since it's very easy to disamble
i have no other OS and not overclocking nope
