Hey fellow /g/tards, I'm making a game and am adding multiplayer, I'm currently using a raspberry pi as my server but I now want to upgrade and get some better hardware but I know next to nothing about server hardware. My budget is around 200 or 300 if anyone would care to help or point me in the right direction?

Are you going to actually *need* or *use* the extra power?
Honestly, I'd just stick the pi for the time being or maybe get a 2nd hand laptop as the "server"
If you get a larger userbase you can always go up if you need the power
Buy a desktop from shopgoodwill.com

You're not gonna get anything done with 200 units of any currency. You need at least $1,000 USD to make a true server.

Yeah we need a bit of extra power, me and my friend also want to try and set up a crypto currency on a server and other projects too (just to learn) so we would need a bit more power for that. We are thinking of using an old laptop though, but we both think it'd be cool to have a proper dedicated server.

Is proper entry level server hardware really that expensive? Maybe an old laptop is the way to go so
