Guys, talk me out of buying a Xiaomi Mi 5x
>5.5" 1080x1920 screen
>4 GB RAM, 64 GB ROM
>Dual rear camera
>Fingerprint and usb type C
I like how it resembles iPhone (i'm a fan of the iPhone design), but it has an actually usefull OS. I don't play muh games on my phone, I chat on it, listen to the music and ocassionaly snap a photo with it. It's quite cheap and I already have a good opinion for the company since I had a Redmi Note 2 Prime. I liked how easy it was to flash a rom or root it, it was a nice phone overall but the camera sucked. I heard that there is going to be a Redmi 5a, I'm also considering it, but mi 5x is already out. What do you guys think?
Please, reply to this post. I would like to purchase it but dont want to make a mistake by doing so

It's just a RN4 with a shitty battery. get the RN4 global instead. it has official LOS and RR.

For me it's comfy af. I remember the times when there were developer versions with built in root, that was good. Its really nice but its very different from material design so it looks kinda out of place

Used for 6 months on my rn3p before getting sick of missed notification and installing lineage is. Never regret. I also discovered the world of ricing, so I'm pretty happy with it.
MIUI bad imo. Has its nice features I miss but I can't stand missed notifications.
>>61830867
I don't really know... It's like the zuk line: they're not amazing phones, it's just the value they offer after some time is insane. But still I haven't really checked out the note 5 so I might be wrong.

Hey guys, got my Redmi Note 4 on your recommendation. I'm a newbie to Android so could someone give me a comprehensive guide on getting this onto Lineage OS or the next best thing?

Which rom should I install on my Redmi Note 3 for stability? I'm on MIUI, but I'm tired of the terrible notification system.
Last time I installed Lineage, it locked me out with some kind of encryption error after I did a weekly update. Same thing happened with Nitrogen.

Is it better now? Any advices?

Are cases and screen protectors worth buying or is it snake oil/just for aesthetics?

I'm a poorfag but I'm considering getting a case/protector for my Moto G5 plus, but don't really know if this investment will be worth it in the long run.
>>
>>61832065
You don't plan on dropping your phone, it just happens
If you don't want to buy an hardened glass screen protector (which isn't expensive) you should at least buy a cheapish case to prevent damage from falling and scratches

>>61832065
A quality glass screen protector is absolutely worth it, to keep your screen scratch-free and it might even prevent it from cracking if you happen to drop your phone. A case is down to your own preference, it'll protect the phone body from scratches and dents from possible drops but it'll also make the phone bulkier and some might say it ruins the aesthetics.

Check out Aliexpress if you're a poorfag, it's the same shit that's in local stores and Amazon for a fraction of the price.

OnePlus 5 is fine. In fact it's on par with current flagships, maybe even (slightly) better.

18:9 is such a meme. I was about to purchase a G6 but then I saw it IRL. The narrow aspect ratio provides no advantages, the screen is barely wider compared to the one on my S5 Neo and consequently usability is barely improved.

Not to mention the fact that a 2017 "flagship" (G6) had a worse screen compared to a 2015 midrange device (S5 Neo). Sasuga LG.

At this point my choices are either a mint second-hand S7 edge, an Axon 7 from amazon.de (?) or something else.

Requirements: 5.5-5.7" display, preferably OLED.
Good specs (at least 3/32GB RAM/ROM, mid-rage to high end SOC and the like)
Headphone jack
At most around 400€.

Wait for the Meizu Pro 7, should be a tiny bit over your budget but worth it.

>Great DAC
>Dual IMX 386, same setup as the honor/Huawei phones
>5.2 inch FHD AMOLED
>4 or 6 GB RAM
>64 or 128GB ROM
>Helio X30, 10nm Processor with new Cortex A73 big cores for performance and A35 for efficiency
>Second OLED screen on the back gimmick that people in unboxing videos are saying has great potential

Should start at 400 eur for the Helio P25 model, but you'd want to spend a tiny bit extra for Helio X30...

http://m.gsmarena.com/meizu_pro_7-8445.php

There's also a 5.7 inch plus variant but that's even more expensive...

Just wait for reviews and it's something to keep in consideration. Alternatively next best option might just be the used S7 Edge, Xiaomi Mi5s, or Zuk Z2 Pro.

Seriously, what are the options for smartphones now-a-days?

Google's Pixel - Extremely overpriced

Apple's iPhone - Extremely overpriced, and Apple

Samsung - Extreme bloatware

Moto - Moto is dead after Lenovo got their hands on it, updates don't happen even on a <1 year old phone

Any Chinese developed phone - Spyware by default, extremely untrustworthy

Any 2+ year old phones - No update supports

Download/flashing Modded OS - Having to trust shady AF third-party

There's literally no other options. Either Pixel, iPhone, or shady spyware Chinese phones.

I want to replace my aging LG G3 and I am looking for a phone that doesn't exist.

Mandatory specifications:
- micro SD Card Slot
- awesome camera with good Auto Focus (think LG G4 class)
- user replaceable battery
- at least 1080p Screen Resolution
- at least Android 7 and released in 2016 or newer
- 64 GB of internal Storage
- flagship SoC (at least Snapdragon 820 or similar)
- IR Blaster
- Size 5" to 5,5" with non retarded body to Screen ratio (think LG G3, 75%), no Xbox-huge bezels.
- Headphone jack
- no fucking curved Display (2.5D Bullshit)

The only two that roughly fit seem to be the LG V20 which I own and which is too big and the auto focus seems to be shit and the Honor 9 which doesn't have a user replaceable battery and probably curved Display glass.

Suggestion for <$450 phone (new or used), US with an AT&T-based MVNO? I don't give a shit about the cameras nor external speakers, but I would prefer a device with hardware buttons, else something like the S8's (gimmicky?? but felt cozy) haptic hard-press home. Also, I'd strongly prefer a 3.5mm jack for Spotify and other music, but I suppose I could live with an adapter. Else, maybe I'll just have to spend more dollarydoos on a Bluetooth IEM,

S8 looks and feels godtier, but I can't justify full price on a student budget. Looks like I *might* be lucky to find a used one without any blemishes on eBay, for around $450? but wew, don't think it'll be easy (without getting scammed)

Otherwise I might aim for a O+3T but those don't seem to be common on eBay.

Sony Xperia X Compact or wait for the upcoming XZ1 Compact. That or iPhone 6S/7/SE
>>
Using a Note 4 now. Looking to upgrade.

Absolute non-negotiable requirements:
-SD slot
-Replaceable battery, even if it takes screws
-

Strong preferences:
-Easily swappable battery
-Large screen, at least Note4 size
-Good rear camera
-Longish battery life

Weak preferences:
-Would like headphone jack but idc
-Vanillish android, but any not atrocious rom is fine
-Large internal storage

Don't care about:
-Screen resolution
-Thickness, there's no too thick and if it's too thin I'll get a case
-This whole waterproof trend
-Fingerprint shit
-Double cameras

Anything is fine as far as price goes. Long as it's under like $2k. If the Note line didn't fucking gimp itself this'd be easy. Hows Sony? Or maybe one of these CDM phones?

I own one, on the whole I'm happy with it and the two different cameras are neat except that the screen has an issue with ghost images which thankfully is easily fixed with the app "Blue Night Filter - Night Mode". Other things to note are that some models aren't rootable in case you care about that and the replaceable battery means fucking nothing when fast charge exists.

Get open camera from fdroid. The stock app is cancer.

>I just got a new phone and I want to install as much stuff as possible.
This is a retarded sentiment. You want to have as little bullshit installed as possible, and only the necessities and things that improve your experience, which usually is very little.

Had the V20 for two days now. Pretty happy with it. Only complaint is the battery, which is removable so it's a non-issue.
Plus, the reviews stated the charger that came in the box was a QC2.0, but it never seemed to go above 500mAh for me.

Can you guys redpill me on the Sony XA1 Ultra?
I'm trying to move away from my iPhone 5 with something I can fully customize
i.e. custom ringtones/upgradeable memory.
Though the only thing I liked on ios were the games.

Is the XA1 Ultra even good? My store gives me a $200 discount off one

Got to test the S8 in a store, looks really nice but holy fuck, even opening and closing the app drawer was enough to cause lag. Tested some other phones too, some much cheaper than the S8 and most of them were completely smooth doing the same.

Not a solution. Not everybody is monolingual.

Custom roms let you change buttons on the navbar, but >>61835585 might be out of luck because of samsung's incessant addiction to making annoying UIs.

Give it back
In all seriousness something must be wrong with it.
Anyway the bootloops only happen if you try to root.

/g/ays help me out. I have Nexus 5 that has worked great for me for the past 4 years. It's dying though, battery replaced once and the screen is coming out and the chassis is broken at the side buttons so i can actually bend the phone now. I like the 5" screen and don't need anymore pixels.
So I've been eyeing up the 5X, and sony's lineup. The Xperia X, X compact and X performance all look good to me. I'd like to stay under the $400 mark and definitely not more than $500. Anyone have experience with these phones?
Everything else seems to be fuck huge nowadays but i'm open to suggestions, maybe even arguments to get a bigger phone.
