No, it's just a player. Sort of like those VHS/DVD combos, but with BD instead.
>>61826385
maybe someone bought a lot of movies at some point and wants to watch it using a single player.
Why do you care?
Both technologies are dead and gone for most people, so I don't really see what you are objecting to.

>Blu-Ray
>dead and gone
Are you serious?
>>61826385
>no 4K Blu-Ray playback
Into the trash it goes...

Blue ray players = dead and gone.
Most people just have a blue ray drive in their computer so they can rip the thing and put it on their media server.
Have you watched a blue ray movie on a blue ray player?
It is fucking horrible.
>>61826385
Blu-ray can play DVD's, right?
The tape deck should've been a beta/VHS combo too. And 8track in the back.

>Most people
>blue ray drive in their computer
>can rip the thing
>media server
Most people can barely use their debit cards, forget having a computer with a working BD drive and a media server setup. Hell, most people have a hard time with Netflix on it's own.
It's good for normies who buy everything in disk format.

Most people who buy old media then.

Yes, blu-ray sales have already peaked and they never hit the highs of DVD. Overall consumers decided to transition straight to streaming from DVD.
